Also as a Mets fan I'm happy that they signed the Alonso deal instead of shifting Vientos and signing that Bregman deal.
Reported that the PV of the Bregman contract is 90 million. Alonso was offered 3/90 but with deferrals and he did not want any deferred money at all.

Pete still got himself a nice chunk of change. It's tough for first basemen now.

You used to be the guy that hit for power. Now that everyone hits for power, you're just the guy that can't field.

So what did NYY even do to replace Sotos hitting? I thought maybe they’d go with a committee approach to replace some of his offense but instead they just did nothing?

They can't replace his hitting so they doubled down on pitching being a strength.

There's nobody they could have gotten that gives them a better offense than they had with Soto last year.

That’s fair, I’m assuming Fried is probably a better bet to return value than most of the position players they could sign. I’m just sad going back to one good hitter

some stats geek ranked every SP in the league and the Yankees have 5 in the top 50. that could be nice.

basically hoping Jazz fixes his swing so he doesn't ground out 69% of the time, Volpe resembles a league average hitter, Wells doesn't drop dead in late August, Goldschmidt isn't a corpse, and Dominguez hits .265/.335/.480.

you need a lotttttt to go right to even come close to replacing the offense.
