You think he wants 3 x 13? Any reason to think that?
The meaning is clear in both cases, or isn't it to you?Saying "LOL" or writing "dunno" instead of "don't know" while arguing if "English" and "Conversational English" are different things is funny.
Jeeze, maybe Mitch can save us from ourselves and just leave. Fire TrevHe is only leaving if the Leafs do not cave and overpay him or he really wants to be here and comes down from his ask IMO. Again, he has turned down $13+m according to some of the insiders.
Don't worry, we're stuck with you.I live in toronto. Im not movkng to cerolinda or artic Edmonton so
That's true, but you left out the Leafs being frustrated with negotiations. Whether that means the Marner camp won't negotiate until after the season or is asking for the moon is open to speculation.Everyone cheering that they tried to trade Marner has selective hearing, they said their number one choice was signing Marner long-term...
You all complain about players not wanting to be here, and now that one does, you complain that he won't leave.
Pretty much a moot point for the Marner contract since Sportsnet reported that Ferris only used the Matthews and Tavares deals as comparables rather than non-Leafs. Marner's salary and bonus structure makes that plainly obvious.Agents/GMs historically value primary assists the same as goals.
That wouldn't surprise me, or 13.25 like Matthews.Id do 3x13. Not committing to 8 years at that number
Wouldn’t surprise me to see the economy in a depression within 2 yearsGoes without saying that without empirical evidence my opinion ...
Around $13mm and he'll want to know how much Matthews re-signs for to make sure he doesn't get left in the dust on an 8 year contract.
Maybe he goes 4 years and hopes to hit the $115+ Cap.
I would not be surprised is there is another "oh frick" COVID/Market scenario that tanks the Cap.
Mind you if future Matthews is 2024-2025 Matthews maybe he doesn't get a raise?
He's following the Tavares pending ufa protocol. That's all well and good but if he is truly not committed to this team, do a Tkachuk and allow the team to get a return.

I'd rather take my chances on July 1 with $24m in cap space after another playoff disappointment. He can go f*** himself if he tries to do a Stamkos and come back with his tail between his legs.Id do 3x13. Not committing to 8 years at that number
We have options finally this summer.
Cap re-distribution is around the corner.
Rantanen is a great pla
yer - but I am happy we didn't land him. Or re-sign JT.
Enough of this big 4 crap.
We have Matthews and Willy + 30mil in cap space and a fully locked up D core and platoon. That's an incredible base.
Build a team for once FFS.
My only hope is if Marner goes somewhere he doesn't decide to take a discount there. I can handle him demanding 14-15M and getting it somewhere because I can say we couldn't do it and he wanted the money.
If he goes and signs for 12M with the Panthers for example... He will be the most hated Leaf ever. Our own Messier.
He has to prove it at that time of the year for sure but none of the Leafs core five has had any playoff success which adds to the pressure here while a team like Tampa or some others have veterans who’ve done it. The bottom line to me is this core will never get it done as a group so changes need to be made even if that includes him walking.Anything's possible I guess. But it also could be his style of play is simply not effective once everyone settles into playoff hockey. I mean the pressure doesn't seem to bother him for the first 86 games of the season, and when the team has even a little bit of playoff success they gets supported and cheered on like no other which makes most people feel no pressure at all, only elation.
Tieing the teams whole future to one player is an over reaction. Especially with a group that never wins when it counts. There’s many ways to build a cup contender and the way chosen by Shanny and Dubas doesn’t work.At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if he did walk. Can't think of another superstar that's put up with so much undeserved nonsense from their team and fanbase.
It's really disappointing how much this management team has screwed this up, and how toxic this fanbase is, and now it seems like our future largely depends on whether Marner loves the Leafs enough to continue enduring the abuse and disrespect. Hopefully he does...
Not sure he can be blamed for Marner who has a full NMC. He did let Gaudreau walk but got a return for Tkachuk.Funny Tre will have walked two superstar wingers to free agency.
Can't wait to see the albatross deals he hands out in an effort to save his ass for trading away our firsts. We will try to "retool" and end up with 4 more Domi's
He’ll pretty much know who is offering what the week before. That’s a big pay difference between him and JT for less goals but 12 more 5 on 5 points. Sure he plays pk but JT has intangibles as well.I'd rather take my chances on July 1 with $24m in cap space after another playoff disappointment. He can go f*** himself if he tries to do a Stamkos and come back with his tail between his legs.
