Mitch Marner, Yet Again

12.5x8 is the fair deal regardless of “tax”

Pastrnak doesn’t play in a no tax state, and he’s arguably the better player, so I think anything more than that and we should walk away

Pastrnak at the same salary he actually have with Toronto taxes rate vs Boston. He would win $1,295,593 less by year

Removing the signing bonus thing and just considerate base salary, Marner to win +/- the same salary with Toronto/Boston taxes rate difference, Marner should be pay 14M to get the same cash than Pastrnak at 11,25M in Boston

How much more does Marner get from endorsements than Pasta? That should cover it.

Pasta didn't get much front loading either, or even a full NMC through his contract, damn.

Plus that's a pretty rudimentary take at taxes.

marner at 14? you have to be kidding me lol

Pastrnak making 13.47%, you are right that I calculated wrong (used a 92.5 vs 95 cap) so it would be 12.9ish million.

This goes down the same rabbit hole, Marner gets USD as a canadian so the 12.9 becomes ~18m. Marner also gets more ad revenue than pastrnak could dream of

all in all the money evens out even with taxes. I believe marner isn't a better player so he 12.5x8 is insanely fair and more is an overpayment, but 12.9 should be the max ceiling no matter what. Internally he gets more than nylander and less than Matthews too.

idk why some people try to go through roundabout ways to justify overpayments

1- I just talking about what we can really know

2- Pastrnak actually having a full NMC on his contract

Marner at 14 M base salary with toronto taxes would pay $7,450,855 in taxes... So his real cash would be around 14M -7,450,855M = 6,55M

Pastrnak at 11,25 M salary base in Boston he would pay $4,683,187 in taxes. So in real cash at the end, it would be 11,25M- 4,683,187 = around 6,57 M

but with signing bonus, i don't know exactly how it's working

PS you don't get more rich because you ger 18M CAD unstear of 14...

2 is incorrect as last three years its an 8-10 year no trade clause so he is moveable

So lets say your math is correct and marner at 12.5 get's taxed that exact amount.

12.5-7,450,855 = ~5,050,000USD
Pastrnak is at 6.57USD.

Marner easily makes the ~1.5 million dollar gap in advertisements vs pastrnak.

Moreover, 5,050,000USD is ~7M in CAD. Marner is a guy who spends most of his time in canada, he isn't like matthews who lives in the USA. marner's buying power in CAD is stronger/more than pastrnak's in USA.

again, marner is a canadian paid in USD and he lives almost exclusively in canada, so yes he makes "more" even at less money.

This is about salary comparisons only. Not livability or advertisement income. Both those things have their own disbutes anyways.

Lets talk about all of the goal scorers from last nights game, when your team NEEDS two points and you are the ONLY guy to score, that's called ...................

When talking about clutch players, you have to look at game Winning Goals... Mitch has EIGHT, tied for 4th most in the league. For a guy who does not shoot a lot (ranked #102 in SOG), that is CLUTCH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Mitch we need you to play defence... cool, I got you...

Hey Mitch we need you to win us a game.. I got you...

Hey Mitch I need you to set up McDavid with an ungodly pass to win the Gold medal... I got you....

Who started this Stawman about Mitch vs Pasta?

Pasta is not qualified to carry Mitch's jock strap.

For one Mitch is an elite defensive forward, Pasta not so much

If Mitch took as many shots as Pasta does, take this year for example, based on shooting % Mitch would have 48 goals to Pasta's 42 goals, add the assists, Mitch would be around 120 points (w/ two less games played) to Pasta's 102, combine the defensive acumen to the 120 points, Mitch is easily without a doubt in a different higher class of players.

Obsessed "Fans" try so hard to shit on one of the best RW'ers in the league... with fans like this who needs enemies, (amirite?) dudes find another hobby, can I suggest something more up your ally, doll collecting perhaps? Here's a concept, grow up, realize no player is perfect, sometimes it is good to play to your strengths, Hockey is a team game, no player has ever won the cup by himself and instead of gaslighting people into trying to think HE'S the problem... maybe pause for a second, reflect on your less than educated approach to analyzing a players game, and perhaps you might realize you're not as smart as you think, no one is buying what you are selling... if you think I'm talking about you... I probably am...

1-again get paid in CAD doesn't make you richer when everything you will pay will be ajust... exemple paying something 1M in USA that will cost you ~1,39 M in Canada. That doesn't make you richer, just than US dollar value is higher.

2- The gaps in advertissements is not as high than you think

I also hate how people act like US players don’t get endorsements. Like be for real Pasternak is getting endorsements money in Boston and probably in Czech Republic as well.
Tkachuk (an American on an American team) reportedly has the most endorsements in the NHL this year. Though the idea that anybody would be okay taking less than they earned at their job because their boss told them they could work other jobs to make up the difference is beyond ridiculous in the first place.

This is why so many can't take Mitch supporters seriously.

Pasta can't carry Mitch's jockstrap? Ridiculous. It's ok that there are other wingers in the league that are as equal or better than Mitch. It doesn't take away how good he is.

Pasta is by himself in Bos and has his third straight 100 point season. Mitch and Matthews have been nominated for the Selke but can't score a goal when the Leafs need it. Pasta was shut down last year until it mattered most

It's called counter balance, I'm the sane for their crazy.

Set play that Rielly and Keefe blew... the B's coach knew Rielly never thinks of defence so he made a calculated set play. Any one with a pinch of hockey knowledge would try that set play 100/100 times, the worse thing about that play is Boston tried that same set play earlier in the season against the Leafs AND did that same set play a couple of weeks before the playoffs and scored. there is no excuse for Keefe not prepping his team better.

I see some of the fanboys have now completely lost their minds.

C'mon little fella, take that medicine, haters gas lighting for an entire season requires a visit to Dr Humble....

Mitch did what last night? c'mon... say it... swallow that medicine.... he ... ....

Pasta 2024-25 oZs% - 68.8%
Mitch 2027-25 oZs% - 49.0%

Comparing a player who gets 20 points more oZs% to a player who starts in the defensive zone more than the offensive zone... is like comparing a elephant to a bag of chips.... dude be better.

If Mitch had the same protected soft minutes as Pasta, Mitch scores what 40 ... 50 points more?

My point is that Pasta is pretty damn good.

So is Mitch.

Impossible to speculate who would have a bigger impact. Mitch does a lot for the Leafs. A lot that Pasta couldn't. But he also does a lot that Mitch can't.
