The team has won a single playoff in 9 years, they start the playoffs in 4 games. I don't want to hear any questions about individual stats and I would hope the team wouldn't want to hear it either. Of course the player would like to hit the target and he would get an extra pat on the head by his teammates if he did. That should be way down their list of priorities.

When I hear them ask said questions I remind myself "these guys have to ask questions every day and try and bring something different, they are just doing their jobs" etc.

It's a free country I guess. It does reinforce my opinion of the sports media though, the same media that pressured Dubas his first year in when negotiating contracts and it handcuffed the team for nearly a decade.

Marner doesnt realize he's playing into the medias hand with his angry responses and demeanor The more he does it, the more they will &^%$ with him.

He's stubbornly picked a battle he can't win. It's childish, but that's Marner.

He's played on lines with Matthews and Tavares since 2019... hes made 11 million since 2020. He should have numerous 100 point seasons. He should have 120 point seasons like his comparables.

... two Marner fans are spreading misinformation so I needed to respond (someone has to). They jump on others for not watching every second of every game but they someone confused McDonagh for Hedman and confused backchecking with waiting on the blueline?

One of the better goals Marner has scored for sure but also doesn't happen without Knies and Matthews winning battles.

My beef with Marner is his fear of corners, fear of the front of the net and fear of battling for pucks and position. Its probably the most important thing in the playoffs. There is a reason Biz and Hrudey did entire intermissions highlighting Marners pathetic efforts in battles.

I'll shower him with praise if he ever does it.

It’s the same cycle every single year:

- During the season, Marner fans hype him up and call anyone who disagrees a clown.
-Then the playoffs come, he falls flat, doesn’t battle, and fans/media roast him for his play.
- In the offseason, his fans complain that people have nothing better to do than talk about Marner.
- Then training camp starts, and the predict him to win the scoring title.
- The season rolls around, he is up and down but still soft and those same fans get mad that the so-called trolls aren’t celebrating him.
-Then the playoffs hit—and he falls flat again. Rinse and repeat.

At this point, 8 times bitten, permanently shy. Sorry, not sorry.

We don't watch the same game...

I think what you're unable to understand is you can't expect Marner playing and having succes with the Knies way like you can't think knies would had succes playing the Marner or Nylander way, they don't have the same tool. That doesn't mean Marner is affraid of contact or whatever, just he don't have physicality to play that style so if he just trying to play ground and pound game. You will not win any fight if yoir plan is to see Marner/Nylander/ Domi/ Robertson by exemple winning 1v1 physical battle, they don't have physicality for this.... So if ypu expect those player start playing that game, they will just become useless.

They need to get the job done by an other way... By their intensity, speed and stick play to overcome physicality weakness and that's Marner actually doing. So yeah Knies and Matthews winning more 1v1 physical, it's their strenght

Bergeron who's maybe the best 2 way center of last 20 years was not physical at all but was just so smart than he had the ability to put himself in the right spot

Sure if youbwaiting to see marner in front of rhe net trying to win physicsl battle against 2 big dman, that will never happen because those kind of player will never win that fight.

It's not a talking point, it's just a matter of people correcting other people incorrectly referring to Marner as a 100 point player. If they'd just say instead that he usually paces for 100 (as I do), there would be no issues.

As I've said many times, who cares anyway? 85 points, 125 points, doesn't matter to me, just bring it in the playoffs. Historically he's a ~70 point player in the playoffs and I think that's where most people are hoping to see improvement, I know I am.

If he plays like he did vs Florida, it might be fewer. Play like he did last night and it is likely we see him for more games. Be nice to see if he can handle the grind of more than 2 rounds.

IMO a big part of our teams issues come post season is heart and willingness to fight to the end. The team is a historically poor playoff team. I’m talking about the team itself not just Marner btw.

It’s not a dumb talking point, it is a matter of fact. You can’t call someone something that he is not. Look like he might just make it this year and that’s fine. With his supposed talent and the talent that he plays with and all the years he has been in the league to never have made it so far just show that he is not worth some of the crazy amounts some think he should get

Adjust for the FLA tax state and the timing of Kucherov's signing compared to this year and I'd like to know what Kucherov would re-sign for in Toronto if he was up this year.

What is Kucherov worth in Toronto signing this year compared to what he signed for two years ago in Tampa - This is a need to know question.
