Good regular season player. He'll get 100 pts on Leafs who have other skilled forwards. On a weak offensive team it'll be less. He'll probably drop to 80 pts.

Playoffs he's a disaster. If you look at his playoff stats, getting 63 pts in 70 games doesn't seem too bad. Playoffs should dump down players pts a bit as it's a tougher game against good teams.

Problem is the guy's pts are frontloaded in games 1-4. Once the series gets to games 5-7 where it counts to end a series he (and the other core 4) basically all turn in Casper the Friendly Ghosts and disappear.

Been going on year after year. I dont see how he magically changes and becomes a playoff stud on another team. But he'll do fine in regular season.

Nylander and Matthews games 5-7 arent too bad. Marner is next level bad. Its what 7 assists in 18 games?

If any of this is true, Marner and his dad can go f*** themselves. He's done nothing to warrant anywhere near that amount. When Mitch lays it on the line for once during the post-season and actually gives a damn, then maybe we'll talk.

In hindsight, 3 years would have been better for the Leafs. They could have started retooling 3 years ago, instead we had to watch him melt in the playoffs for 3 extra years.

The worst part is Marner Camp and their whisper campaigns need to character assassinate the franchise, city, media, fanbase to justify their business choice of leaving, like we had no choice but to behave this way due to prior incidents.

This is assuming someone would want to pay him an 8 year massive contract starting at age 32.

Why would it matter to Marner at all to "justify" him leaving to the fans . He's doing what players do every year , going to free agency . He owe's no explaination to anyone and wouldn't benefit fron any of these statements at all . If anything saying he was disrespected blah, blah will have a negative effect on any potential suitors . If he's leaving it really doesn't matter what Leafs fans think .
Who needs to do full damage control to smooth over the situation of losing one of your best players for nothing is the Leafs . I'm thinking they're behind all the rumors myself .

Not a great time to have a extra 22 mil to spend in free agency. IMHO

Just the leafs luck I suppose. Our young kids contracts came up right at covid and the cap was frozen.
Now we have some space but the pickings are slim in this years free agency. And the odds are there will be alot of overpayment for older, slower players living off past reputations.

But we kind of like to have old recycled players here collecting their retirement checks and offering nothing to get us over the hump.

Hopefully Tre can find some younger players who have potential in free agency or trades. But I wont hold my breath here. We needed a center bad at trade deadline and got a Laughton who is a career 4th liner.

Will be interesting if Tre changes the DNA here. Expect a older player who is a supposed leader etc added to the club, added grit and big shin pads to block shots etc but offer little offence.

I hope and pray we add some speed and offensive ability ....especially in our bottom six and on D.

Would Tre have the guts to ask Rielly to waive? We have to wait a few years now till his full NMC ends.
Would be a good trade chip to use as IMHO Rielly has regressed badly.
