This should come as no surprise.
Why should any team pay him that much to be a mercenary? lolThis should come as no surprise.
You can buy Land Rovers with a league minimum contract. You cant buy Land Rovers with good intentions...
I think a short term deal will actually be attractive to more teams, there is less risk if he doesn’t work out.Why should any team pay him that much to be a mercenary? lol
Definitely, especially when it only cost them cap space...but the perception would be that he's only in it for the money...maybe some teams just don't care.I think a short term deal will actually be attractive to more teams, there is less risk if he doesn’t work out.
Hopefully they have closed the book on this greedy loser. We've seem more than enough. Screaming at his teammates to wake the f*** up is more embarrassing than his play against the Panthers.Hopefully MLSE isn't considering that option.
I don't know about that. Marner probably doesn't sign here regardless because they "disrespected" him. He can take his ball and go elsewhere. Sure letting him walk is a poor use of assets, but signing him to a bigger contract is even worse. Anyone thinking he'll suddenly turn into a playoff performer with more money is his pocket is delusional.
I wonder if Marner starts getting a whiff of immaturity issues around the league based on how he’s organizing his free agency tour. The idea that the Leafs ever disrespected him is just laughable considering how loyal they were to the core 4 project and how well paid Marner has been his whole time here.

hope every gm laughs in his face and shuts the door if he seriously trys to get a 2 year deal for 13m lol.
Lol, whose been saying this since the regular season?
That Antropovsky character.
Not surprised that it is being spun as, Marner "is considering". It's the only deal he wants. He needs Matthews contract.
where is the "Vomit" emoji?
dont want anything to do with marner anymore
LOL at the GM who is gonna offer this AAV
I think Sens make alot of sense for both.l hope his next option is to GTFO.
I think Sens make alot of sense for both.
I could see them doing a 2-3 year deal he wants, because Tkatchuks deal is up on 2 years and he likely would be gone. Their ownership may think that showing they are serious about winning may get him to re-sign.
Sens have excellent #1 Dman in Sanderson, have big physical star players in Sanderson and Tkatchuk.
Kind of environment Marner needs IMO to succees, his lack of physical play in the shadow of physical players.

He is going to sign with the Rangers
Rangers need a big win and is willing to trade anyone on the roster.
Like I’m sure those teams exist out there that are willing to do it, but you think about the idea of a superstar waylaying on your program as they laser in on a next contract and it’s very unattractive. Like this guy is here for a snack payday on his way to the next even bigger forever payday. He’s within his right to be a mercenary but there’s also a value judgement that comes with that.
Yup let me squeeze every penny I can out of a team on a short term deal, shit my pants in the playoffs and then yell at my teammates to wake the f*** up. I am sure his teammates will love him. Talk about f***ing a team's salary scale and it's chemistry. I pity the team that signs him and look forward to watching him melt in the playoffs for another team.Tavares was the first major star to leave his team, he took a discount and went home on a 7 year deal.
Marner, on the other hand, may become the first star to leave specifically in search of a massive payday.
His camp is already working overtime to manage the optics. We're hearing now that he "took too much blame" and he waa disrespected by management, but we know if the Leafs had offered him a two-year deal, he’d have signed it without hesitation. They didn’t. Marners team just doesnt it known its been only about money. 13.5x8 is more than reasonable
Hopefully, Tree makes it clear the sticking point was tge 2-3 year term. One that would essentially screw Toronto from ever being competitive.
