Player Discussion Mitch Marner Part Infinity

The NHL salary cap for the 2025-26 season is set at $95.5 million.
18% CH% would be $17,190,000.

The max allowable by any player contract is 20% CH% as per CBA. ($19,100,000).
He’ll likely wait to see if goes to 100+.

McDavid has never been about the money imo. He has also always signed 8 year deals. I think he is more about winning than money. Especially if he leaves Edmonton.
we know what his priorities are. Didn’t he take a little less last time? When you’re offered 100 million a couple of million isn’t that big of deal.

He knows he's gonna be the highest paid player in the league for most of that contract anyway.

If he doesn't win a cup most people would only put him as better than Marcel Dionne but not top ten players of all time. A cup or two would put him arguably top five. But until then he's just a great player who couldn't get it done when it mattered most.

Right now he's a loser and he knows it.

Yup ..

Oilers' Connor McDavid signs 8-year, $100M extension

'I'm in it for the long haul and I want to win here'

"There have been two players than have done what Connor has done at his age. He's a unique player but he also cares about his teammates.

"He wants us to ice a winning team."

McDavid would not say how the two sides decided on the $12.5 million per year rather than the $13.5 million most media was quoting in stories last week.

"It really doesn't matter how we got to a number … the important thing is I'll be here for the next nine years and I couldn't be more happy about it."

If 97 is a loser, I'll take 10 please.

I think he looks at like he’s a loser and HATES IT.

I doubt he stays one forever... I'd put money on him eventually winning a cup over any of these Leafs ever doing so.

There's a video of him trashing the locker room last year aftsr they got eliminated... I can only imagine he was even more angry this year.

Puts you way over the cap and you still need a goalie. Lol

Although with 1 goal and 1 assist in his last 4 games against the Panthers he would fit right in here

And no goals and no assists in his last 2 games last year. Yep he’s a lock for this team.

l doubt McDavid offers a discount this time around.

If Marner gets $14M, that GM deserves to be shot.
Especially if it’s a short term deal that allows him to demand a bigger percentage in a couple of years. One is bad, two is much, much worse.

Marner is not the sharpest pencil in the bunch ..

So what is the worst team he could sign with in order to bring a world of hurt and verbal abuse from fans and reporters alike upon himself?

Answer: Carolina Hurricanes

After refusing to waive his NMC blocking a trade to Carolina at TD and robbing Leafs Nation out of Mikko Rantanen, then once again flames out in the playoffs for the Leafs, only he could make the situation even worse.

Canes according to reports are one of the most interested teams most others are in the West.

I wanna see that.

8 year deals mean security. McDavid obviously wants the sure thing. Signing shorter deals are high risk, great if it works out.
