Player Discussion Mitch Marner Part Infinity

Going to post it here first as nobody(at least I have seen) had said it. If this catches on, then we will know 100% those medias read and take stuff from this board.

MM will start calling ‘The Decision’ very soon and create buzz like LeBron. Maybe some podcast will stream with MM.

He wouldn’t have the star power to attempt that kind of stunt and not have it look goofy. The blowback on his royal visit has already started. Even seems like there’s some push back on his treatment of the Leafs organization.

l wouldn't put it past him if there are no takers.
My fear is the only team dumb enough to wait until mid July and give him what he wants is the Leafs.
With assets walking, no draft picks and minimal trade pieces, if Tre strikes out on trades or UFAs, guess what?

I agree with you but I don’t think his team knows that.

They think they are getting all the buzz

I don't know about that. Marner probably doesn't sign here regardless because they "disrespected" him. He can take his ball and go elsewhere. Sure letting him walk is a poor use of assets, but signing him to a bigger contract is even worse. Anyone thinking he'll suddenly turn into a playoff performer with more money is his pocket is delusional.

McDavid and Marner both have "the decision" as of July 1st. The longer McDavid doesn't sign the better, if he does sign, hopefully it's 1 or 2 years 👀👀

So which team will finally lay out Marner's asking price? None of the big dogs need him, and teams like Carolina won't want to spend the money.

Dubas and ShanaCON two of Marner's ass kissers are kicked out by MLSE. Nobody is gonna put up with Marner's BS anymore!

Kyle loves landing (and overpaying) the big fish.
And playing with Crosby he would shine……they have cap space, but like I’ve said before, if they want to unload Karlsson and give up a couple of first or a first and second, the Leafs should consider it.

He’d help a little on the PP and it’s only 2 more years.

Paul wanted him to be Gilmour and tried hard to get him to play like Gilmour and tried to sell him as a Gilmour early in his career. It almost worked too... the media was eating it up. I have no idea how Marner and Dougie were ever in the same sentence...because there are NO similarities. Mitch has always been all skill and no heart.

Even watch the video produced by the local TV station when Marner was like 11 or 12.

Its a must win game in an important tourny and Paul Marner makes a comment about Marner not skating hard and not trying hard enough. After the game Paul says what are we gonna tell Mom Mitch..... and Mitch "responds, that we lost. I dont care"

Marner has never had that "dawg" in him. Ever.
Marner is actually an interesting psychological case study.

From a psychoanalytic point of view, he has been consciously, or subconsciously, failing at key times. Is it self-sabotage? Self-sabotage directed towards angering a father figure. This can be an unconscious desire to maintain a sense of autonomy or rebel against perceived control (from Paul); a manifestation of repressed anger or a way to assert independence, even if it leads to negative consequences.

How do you what he perceives to be failure, and what he considers key moments?

Not sure if posted but Elliotte said Marner offered a meeting to the Leafs, but he's not sure if Leafs will even go through with it.

Here is that report
Last week, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman revealed that Marner's camp had declined to speak with the Leafs in a last attempt to negotiate either a new deal or a sign-and-trade ahead of July 1st, but did offer them a meeting when free agency opens.

Maple Leafs to Decline Mitch Marner's Request

In a late-night written edition of '32 Thoughts' on Friday, Friedman further revealed that the meeting offered by the former first-round pick has been, or will be declined by the Leafs, given that they know that Marner will not be returning.

It has become an unfortunate end to Marner's tenure with the Leafs that has significantly tarnished his legacy with his hometown team. Very unfortunate to bear witness to.

Apparently GM Treliving has told Marner to pick up his stick and puck off. Don't call us and we will not call you.
