Maybe, seems like a lot.Recent rumours suggest he'll be offered at least $15 million

wow he's gonna make such a difference on a team with C depth including Aho, Kotkaniemi, Old as Balls Staal and goaltending like Andersen between the pipesI've been saying it. Got laughed at. Keep laughing.
Not sure of any contending NHL GM that watched the playoffs would say " you know what we could use? A 15 mil wingerMaybe, seems like a lot.
A non-contending GM is more likely to take that chance and have the cap space to sign him.Not sure of any contending NHL GM that watched the playoffs would say " you know what we could use? A 15 mil winger
Like I said seems like a lot but there isn’t a team that wouldn’t take him if they could make it work. Not sure of any contending NHL GM that watched the playoffs would say " you know what we could use? A 15 mil winger
Yup, said that from the start that it would bother him. He’s always seen himself equal to Matthews but this year everyone made it clear he is not.
Captaincy Decision May Have Played a Role in Mitch Marner's Decision to Leave the Maple LeafsOn Thursday's edition of TSN 1050's 'First Up', Aaron Korolnek and Dave Feschuk discussed Marner's decision to leave with Feschuk noting that the decision to name Auston Matthews captain caused a stir between Marner's camp and the Leafs.
"There have been multiple expressions of a feeling of lack of respect from the Marner camp over his time in Toronto. We saw his dad talk about it at some point, why isn't he considered for the captaincy. We know that there has been a lot of back and forth with management about 'why did Auston Matthews get this and why didn't I get this' - and all good arguments... There is a certain aspect of his camp and the way he has carried himself that says he hasn't had quite enough alpha dog treatment and this is his moment to get it."
He's dumb enough to do it, but I'm not sure he's got the balls to sign with the team he used his NTC onI've been saying it. Got laughed at. Keep laughing.
I noted this a couple weeks ago that Marner im sure was peeved that Matthews was given the C and Marner was left still sharing the A, this time with Reilly, instead of Matthews.Yup, said that from the start that it would bother him. Matthews was named captain over him, after the team prioritized signing Matthews immediately with Nylander all while trying to trade Marner to Vegas when the opportunity arose. At the 4 nations and now olympics Marner was not selected first unlike Matthews and Nylander. Fans have turned on him even though he saw himself as our god (although in fairness to him, one or two people on this board do weirdly treat him like a god).
To most the above would have been obvious, but to someone as arrogant as Marner I’m sure its very difficult to accept. Not surprising at all his feelings are hurt and wants to leave.
I always thought the way to get the "alpha dog treatment" was to perform like an alpha dog.I hear the best way to earn a captaincy is to be aggressively jealous of a teammate…
I don't see the conundrum. Without him we may not win the division, but we should still make the playoffs easily enough.Regular-season amazing Mitch gets your team comfortably into the playoffs.
Post-season invisible Mitch requires others to step in to fill the huge vacuum, and no Leaf can; there are no Bennetts or Marchands on our roster.
This is the conundrum.

He’s signing with Pittsburg and Crosby will be OK with it.Poor Mitchy. Phenomenal talent but has really bitten off more than he can chew here. Wants to be what he isn't. It's on full display and it's causing him quite a bit of turbulence these days.
Wonder if he gets his ask somewhere and the circus continues, gets the Shedeur Sanders treatment in free agency, or something in between and boring.
As long as Toronto isn't involved.
I still think his agent and dad guided Mitch to this s****y situation; he was malleable, young, and naive - as most of us are at 18 years old. They convinced Mitch that the most mercenary screw-the-team approach is the way to go, and when they saw Dubas was a piss poor negotiator, unable to win MLSE anything at all, well that sealed the deal.So he is a headcase, delusional much. Good to know and let him go note to part ways on.
How is being the 4th highest paid, leading the Team in scoring by 20 points while playing in all situations not delivering?I still think his agent and dad guided Mitch to this s****y situation; he was malleable, young, and naive - as most of us are at 18 years old. Unfortunately for Mitch, when it came time for him to fulfill his side of the bargain - i.e. deliver like you were paid too - well, the agent and dad hadn't educated him about that part. And we fans reacted appropriately.
Maybe 17 million.Recent rumours suggest he'll be offered at least $15 million

You know, the funny part is that Kyper was the first guy I remember to say "trade Mitch". It was a while back too. Maybe 2021 after the Canadians loss. Maybe Paul Marner heard that and sent his army of ear-flapped, furry, trapper-hatted hoser thugs after him. That’s rich coming from Kyper. He’s been a Marner mouthpiece for years.

Why are you only focusing on one season and not on the playoffs at all? Maybe that would answer your question, but you’re a smart guy so I’m sure you knew that already. How is being the 4th highest paid, leading the Team in scoring by 20 points while playing in all situations not delivering?
