Player Discussion Mitch Marner Part Infinity

Except for the part where Matthews and Nylander did the same thing and got rewarded for it. But now suddenly Mitch Marner gets treated differently and they try to trade him even though he has full protection. Hmm, I wonder why he's not taking their calls.

The most pathetic part is that they've done a 180 and want him back. :shakehead Horrible franchise.
Matthews/Nylander did the same thing. No one is debating that. It just isn’t getting reported that they feel disrespected or butt hurt since they got over it and signed anyway.

And if that happened, it wouldn't be "Marner's camp" talking to the Leafs, it would be the camp of the player they're talking about. So no, Marner wouldn't be talking about "other clients" through himself or his rep. Marner is not involved in Sam Bennet's negotiations. The level of delusion here is off the charts.
It's not delusion at all - pending UFAs still maintain dialogue with their current teams, even if they've decided to leave.

And if Marner hasn't slammed the door shut on the Leafs, he wouldn't be inviting them for a "meeting" once free agency opens.

None of this is standard practice, as far as I've been informed on the topic by people I know in the player representation space.

Is Marner mad at the team or fans? Lack of respect from the team does not make any sense to me. The team has done everything for him.
The answer is no. Last we heard from Marner on the topic, he was adamant in saying he loves everything about playing here because he's treated like a god. Unless I hear different, he still feels that way.

Which leads us to the reason for this dispute. The answer is universal: money. Marner's ask only one year after the new captain's deal blew Auston's salary out of the water, and the Leafs weren't willing to go that far. The claim of Marner being subjected to disrepect, public pressure, media circus, and whatever else is agenda posting.

If disrespect means not bending over and taking it in the ass without lube a second time around, well he's welcome to leave.

If we're being honest he was the 4th highest paid, leading scorer by 20 while playing all situations and taking the lions share of them blame.
4th highest paid by 100K.

5th in goals (both ES and overall) while being second (by 4 seconds) in ice time per game and second (by 5 seconds) is ES ice time per game by forwards.

"All situations" doesn’t seem to include playoffs, which seems to be the only place where he is taking the lion's share of the blame.

This obsession that ONLY goals count is cute. Why does the NHL even track assists? Silly league.

Yet many still want to go the same route, paying half the cap to 4 guys. Most of the posts wanting Marner to stay ask or look for a who is going to replace him. It should be how many smaller additions will we make with the extra cash,
Or put the cash in their pocket

This. Giving half the cap to four players has gotten us so far, why not try it again?

I don't think it's the team but it's hard to know when he's never said anything about it.
It’s hard to know that Marner has responded to the fanbase and the club’s generosity and adulation with contempt? And that that response isn’t plainly obvious?

It’s hardly hard to know provided you’re willing to follow valid conclusions from valid premises in good faith.

Sincere question: Are you going to be spending more time on the Leafs boards or the team’s board that Marner signs with?

Is he angry with the team? What has he, personally, said about the situation? I've seen rumours and speculation and people writing fanfic about how his agent has a secret shadow network to subtly leak things through the media. Which is ridiculous, because his agent can just directly talk to people if he wants to communicate things. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that everyone here believes 100% of the things they hear, they believed Hockeybuzz FFS.
Is it true that Marner’s camp turned down 13.5M x 8 and closed communication about negotiating a new contract off with MLSE and are positioning themselves to sign with the highest bidder?

If any of this is true, why would anyone need explicit declaration to infer that at the very least he is displeased being a Maple Leaf, when his camp’s actions leave only that possibility?

Who knows if it's true? I don't really care. I'll reserve my judgement for what actually happens.

But you didn’t reserve concluding others being ridiculous and likening “everyone” on the other side of Marner’s booster club as being ill-willed and prejudiced, correct?

For myself, a Marner supporter from his draft and into this season, I don’t rely on bias to conclude the obvious, and my questions speak to that diligence.

If you don’t care, and if you don’t know, what’s your impartial motivation in grouping dissent as something irrational when you can’t account for plainly verifiable circumstances undergirding the simple questions I posed?

And the answer by the way, is that we don’t need a press release to conclude the position of Marner’s camp, a) Because we know the difference internally and b) know the difference from experience observing other clubs sign their homegrown stars to deals without corrosive theatrics.

The problem with the Marner camp is they will always feel disrespected by Everyone and everything.

Why is it the “Marner camp”. What other player is referred to by agent/parent.

It’s nuts
They feel disrespected anytime Mitch is held accountable

Not disrespectful when you threaten to sign an offer-sheet or threaten to sit out the entire season unless you get what you want. Not disrespectful to mail it in at work during the most important time of the year. Not disrespectful to demand the sun and the moon and get pissy when you refuse to deliver your end of the bargain. Key word refuse, because he literally doesn't even try in the playoffs.
