Player Discussion Mitch Marner Part Infinity

Leagues got a problem with Fla... they have their core locked up long term on sweetheart deals until like 2032. While most other teams are going to be paying 2nd liners what they are paying their stars. Bennett rumored for 8. Just have Ekblad left.

Its only going to get more and more difficult to beat them.

I am JK, but some will spin it that way. It is already happening on X by some.... "Leafs were the closest to beating Fla." Run it back.

If Florida remains the big whale in the Atlantic, it actually makes sense for Toronto to use a lot of its financial might to drive up the cost on Florida being able to keep their free agents, or take them from them outright. In order to do that we would need to run away from re-signing Marner, not to run it back so we can reproduce the same dynamics as 2024-25.

Reinhart is literally what all Leafs fans thought MM will become.
Selke level winger, high IQ, doesn’t have a great shot but can still score, not soft or weak, not the fastest player but effective.

Funny how even 3 yrs or more ago, if someone here propose MM for Reinhart straight up, every here will say Leafs will just say NO or it must be Reinhart plus but over the past two years, it becomes there is no way Panthers will take this deal.

I just hope #16's meeting scheduled with the Leafs is not the start of a chain of events that will eventually lead to him resigning in Toronto. If we look at it from a business perspective, I can't think of another organization that wouldn't fire an employee who has been underperforming on an important assignment for 9 years.

The narrative shouldn't be "Marner considering if he should resign with the Leafs". It should be "Leafs don't want Marner back".

he didn't cost the Panthers much more than what we paid for Laughton 🫠

You are proving my point... he took a playoff choker like Tkachuk, and he was no longer that in Florida... Zito would likely take Marner.
Sorry, but it doesn’t. The only similarity between the two is that they both played for the London Knights in juniors. Tcachuk plays north south hockey and goes into the corners to get the puck, whereas Marner plays east west and does everything he can to not go in the corners to try to get the puck. Their difference in play is like night and day.

another similarity is that they both play right wing in the national hockey league, in the atlantic division of the eastern conference. another one is that their first names both begin with M

I think the jury is in that Reinhardt is a much more valuable player then Marner is you want the ultimate prize.

Rumor is Bennett re-signed for 8x8. I thought Ferris was the bad guy agent, who gets his players to walk to UFA?
Florida has all the power. Do you want to stay in the back to back Cup champs with a chance to go for 3? In the sunshine state? As the 2C? Then sign or bye.

8m FLA bucks is like 10m TOR bucks anyways.

The fix will be when Canada and the USA becomes one. It looks like that will happen btw. Canada is being run into the ground economically.
