Isn't that the gamble? He says he's worth it, the team doesn't? So now he'll get it elsewhere and try to prove he wasn't the (maybe a) problemThe compromise is he needs to leave his hometown to get every last penny, but I'm just hoping after July 1, this is not our problem.
No question Mitch has ruined his image and legacy here. But if he goes elsewhere and is a top player on a cup winner I'll say he's the one who "wins" in the end.On the maturity piece, I think this guy could have had a much happier time in Toronto not comparing himself to Matthews on every privilege. It's hard to imagine a guy like Draisaitl huffing and puffing like Mitch every time Connor McDavid was elevated a little higher.
And I want a pony!Isn't that the gamble? He says he's worth it, the team doesn't? So now he'll get it elsewhere and try to prove he wasn't the (maybe a) problem

Ok, Paul.Nothing, his father hasn't been involved in years.
Kinda depends what you consider the "Toronto Maple Leafs", because that Babs stuff was shady. The schedule B stuff was poorly handled. It's a complicated, messy legacy.
I don't think the Toronto Maple Leafs ever treated him poorly despite all the well reported nitpicks. If he needs to stick it to someone it's really the legacy he's built for himself here because a lot of this era has been built on his own come up story. If he goes on to win and make all the money elsewhere, good for him but end of the day he's only running away from himself.

But none of that justifies or excuses his own actions and how the moments always looked too big for him here
The whole thing is pretty unique. It's not like other teams were moving off young core assets in their prime by choice, but most of the team's with talent like ours either crashed at some point causing frustration or broke through buying time. We've been uniquely underachieving in playoffs without missing the playoffs or having a complete fall offYeah agreed on the last part.
As misguided as it may have been, Shanahan and Dubas' belief in the core in the face of so much adversity was pretty unique on the sporting landscape. It's too bad the Core 4 guys never seemed to appreciate that.
Marner's mouth wrote cheques that butt could never cash. It's a complicated, messy legacy.

You would think drinking a lot of beers would make Marner’s game more fun to watch… but here we are.
This is why nobody takes the Leafs seriously.Unsubscribing from TSN forever. The most stupid thing I have read, didn't press play. Wow
What ever JT said I’m sure he mumbled it. LolNylander said he played badly the last few games. Matthews and Marner blamed others. I don't recall what JT said.

I'm getting pretty sick of the schedule B bonuses and Babcock stuff
You can say a lot of stuff about this organization but they haven't been shy about throwing money at almost everything for the last decade
We've given all the big 3 pretty much everything they have wanted contractually since they left there ECL
They make more money than there comparables
Full NMC
Full Bonus structure
None of those players has a leg to stand on if they have a problem with how they have been treated, none of them
If Marner goes, fair enough that's his right and decision but I think the teams been more than fair to him in his time here
Are you married to my ex?Dealing with them feels like the equivalent of reminding your wife she has to pick up the kids today and getting a detailed notarized list of everything you have potentially done wrong since 1993 both in real life and dreams she’s had.
How about one of them saying he played badly the last few games? It would be nice for just one time for them to admit they had something to do with not advancing. I mean personal responsibility on the matter. "I didn't get the job done"...is it that hard to say? Instead it's "Passengers" and we will "Learn from this"...My God...how tone deaf are they?
Someone asked Friedman on his podcast Monday "Could Marner block a trade of his UFA rights?" And Friedman answered "If he wanted to, he could 100% block a trade of his rights."
Theres your proof bucko
And if a team he's on wins the Cup, Mitch won't be either.Kessel won 2 cups, bozak, Kadri won cups. None were the best or 2nd best player on their team
No you’re not.
You are paying for your seat to watch a hockey game
32 thoughts monday June 2ndDo you have a link Ritchie Cunningham? I'm sorry if "JKG33 says he heard a hockey pundit say it" isn't quite good enough to convince me. And even if you did, who made Freidman the authority on this topic? Again, I provided my receipts. Step up with something tangible.
