Yup. From what could have been a story book story has turned to dust.
Mitch now wants run away and hide in some obscure non hockey market far from the expectations of the crowd.
It could have been different if he had show a little humility team first mentality.

Its a ritual that belongs usually to the teams best players or leadership...not depth players.

What do you think would happen if Easton Cowen came to Toronto and tried to outwait Marner?

Also... I read about players having just one of these rituals BUT all of them? And a goalie hug And a mascot hug?

Marner is self absorbed and in his head he's the best player in the world.

Him trying to silently outwait two 36+ old veterans at 4nations is plain embarrassing and disrespectful and the fact that he tried to do it silently speaks volumes to his immaturity and lack of leadership qualities.

Both Marchand and Crosby showed their leadership though. Neither just silently left and let Marner win. Both were the ones who confronted Marner.

its mind boggling that on a team with as many stars as 4nations and Marner not even being one of the first selected or part of the leadership core that in his head he thought he should be last on the ice... especially over one of the absolute best canadian hockey players of all time.

Just mind boggling. And this is clueless guy is a face of the Leafs and wears an A and has been for years.

Cant wait for him and his toxic presence leaves the team.

He should go to Flyers... he can do the Gritty with Gritty the mascot after every win. That would really get him televison time!

Marner for Bennett?: Host Gets Text on Huge Sign-&-Trade​

SDPN host and Sportsnet’s watch-along super fan, Steve Dangle Glynn, just posted that he received a text on his phone that said the following:

“Could Darren Ferris engineer a June 28 Marner for Bennett dual sign and trade that results in Bennett getting 8×8 in Toronto and Marner getting 8×12 in Florida?”

While this isn’t confirmation that the two teams are discussing a deal — highly unlikely, given that Florida has secured its spot in the Stanley Cup Final — it is an interesting bit of speculation. John Shannon recently reported that Sam Bennett likely has his UFA landing spots down to two teams, the Florida Panthers and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Meanwhile, several reports have Marner wanting to go where the spotlight isn’t as bright, the tax benefits are better and the team has a chance to win, which screams Florida.

Marner and Dubas were both strangey strange from the start. Shanahan always seemed like a snake and Babcock like a bit of a dink. Lou was cool though, I liked Lou.

Pelley is another sleazy slime ball type guy too. I like Tre though and Berube is a good coach if he discovers how to modify his lines mid series.

That's because he loves screen time and clinging on to things that get him publicity. Like Fortnite and allt he stuff Antropovsky mentioned.

The appreciation bit is because he stinks at playoff hockey and underrated part because he lacks actual skills other than making plays when he has the time and space to do so.
 
The real thing no one considers is that Marner is actually 50-70pt player on any other team aside from Toronto, Edmonton, Florida.

I 100% know he will look exactly like Jon Huberdeau did. Still a fine/top end player, but get's those points because of the team he's on. When he doesn't have that same thing, it's back to reality.

If Mitch signs for 13-14X7, it might look worse then Darnell Nurse in a couple years.

Could have John T for the same or more regular season points for 5-6 mil a year and have the same playoff performance of 0. Johnny looks like a steal for 1/3 the money with little commitment.

Partly true. However the main reason Marner is talked about so much are his disappearing acts late in playoff series. He made one good pass in game 6 that resulted in Matthews scoring a goal. However I wouldn’t exactly call it highlight reel. That might be the best offensive play he’s made in a game 6 in 9 years.

The blind backhand giveaway in game 5 up the middle of the ice was truly a junior level mistake. Even AHL guys would get benched for that stupidity.

Theres regular season Marner, playoff Marner in games 1 to 3 and playoff Marner in games 4 to 7. As the pressure builds his hockey IQ takes a nosedive.

This clip below is the first time I really remember the last off becoming "a thing" and it started to become popular after. Two fourth line fighters (although McCarty has his moments)

The goalie stuff is often with a fighter too, do you not remember the whole Reaves thibg with the Shesty release us shit?
