Player Discussion Mitch Marner Part Infinity

That was not phony he really snapped I just wish he hit that point at the beginning of the game might have willed the boys to a victory I’m hard on him but I honestly loved to see it just too late

I wish he had hit that point in 2021 vs Montreal and took it out on Carey Price.

Instead of yelling at his teammates, he should have yelled at himself and his BFF. That was embarrassing coming from that clown. 100% f***ing loser.

He’s not a leader though his agent and dummy dubas put him in a position he should have never been in if we’re being honest nothing about him screamed a leader but the cap hit he got

Marner’s leadership role on the Leafs feels like more of a status driven thing than any personal trait that screams leader of men.

Of the final 8. You need a team that has cap space, and will give SB, is competitive. Has a C to play with. Then you look at being close to family etc who are here

1.) Vegas- doesn’t have cap. Does have a need. Will make big swings. Competitive. Low tax market. Far from family. Very possible.
2.) Edmonton. Crazy market. No room. Unlikely
3.) Winnipeg. Would have need but unlikely
4.) Dallas. No room
5.) Florida. No room
6.) Washington. Replaces ovy? Friends with strome. But they are a bubble team that got hot. Would he really go to play with strome?
7.) Carolina. Has a need. Will they pay sb? He already turned them down.

I guess Washington/vegas/

It’s about losing the asset for nothing.

1.) realistically he could/should be the hometown hero who leads the team in all time scoring. It’s a great story. His lack of success, his agent/family actions started it. But fans have been relentless. It’s probably time to move on.
2.) everyone should have recognized that last year. What could he possibly learn now that he didn’t know last year? He should have taken the summer , told the leafs where he wanted to go and took a trade.
3.) now there aren’t realistic options to replace him.
The team is still floundering. Who are ton going to get?

They could have flipped assets for someone. Like rantanen.

Just a disaster.
The bottom line is, in most cities a player like Marner would be loved.

Many star players lose in round 1/2
The sens took like 8 years to make the playoffs. They never even got to 7

The caps/avs only got passed round one once.
The wild have never even got passed round one in 8 tries.

But they all want their stars back.
I agree. Shanahan should be run through the shit for not trading him 3 years ago.

True. When the Leafs management spend 20 ish mil $ on two players and, like, 2 mil on their entire bottom 6, those two need to deliver more than perimeter, careful, non-physical play and some defence. Marner comes off as the most entitled little child in the sport

Imagine the thoughts going through guys like Tanevs heads when that was happening. I’m sure more than a few of them wanted to punch him in the face

Trade him to a team for a 4th round pick so they can sign him to a 8 year deal
That 4th rounder will be more useful

No. I answered your questions.
And your answers show that you either ignored what I said, or you didn't understand what I said. You said you didn't ignore so ...

I did answer your question. I proved to you that there was a deal between Toronto and Carolina that involved Marner and Rantanen being traded for eachother. That's how high Carolina viewed Marner and that's how high Toronto viewed Rantanen. This trade didn't happen because Marner blocked it. These are the facts you can't ignore.

I explained how there's more to it than that, not gonna do it again. Have a good one.

You said Carolina only wanted Marner if he would sign there. Yea, Marner blocked it. I've stated this multiple times. You're not reading what I'm typing.

Player value is not just dependent on the player's performance or something.

Just look at the Kawhi trade or PG trade.

I just saw Mitch’s melt down I love it I just wish he did it at the beginning of the game might have actually made a difference but that’s the shit we needed from him for years

Kinda tone deaf TBH, he is telling the team to Wake the F up and he has not done shit to help the team win over the previous 4 games.

I love the guys skill, I love his hockey mind, love his creativity ... I'm not a big fan of the stupid shit that sometimes comes from his mouth....

Asked about his future following Sunday’s loss, Mitch Marner declined to get into details about his future: “I don’t have any thoughts right now,” he said. “Pretty devastated with what just happened.”

Maybe he will share more Tuesday morning during the club’s end of season media availabilities. Maybe he won’t. Maybe he’s said all he needs to say.

Marner is going to get $13 million and up as a free agent this July. Almost every team will check in on him if he hits the open market. Both Marner and his agent, Darren Ferris, know it. After six straight seasons of hitting or being on pace for 90+ points, he finally cracked the century mark and put up 102 points this season. That will be tough to replace.

I don’t think he has fully closed the door on the Leafs, but like I wrote about after the trade deadline in March, I fully expect teams like Chicago, Los Angeles, Utah, Pittsburgh, San Jose and Calgary to pursue him aggressively, if given the opportunity. Marner is going to get paid. It’s just a matter of where.

I’m all for retooling the core and moving on from Mitch and maybe one other but man it pisses me off to no end that they did it by walking him to free agency. Could have got a kings ransom for him a few years ago. Also hate that we don’t have next years first for our transitional year. Retooling the core of done has to be done right and they arnt doing it right.
