Player Discussion Mitch Marner Part Infinity

Yelling at his teammates to wake the f*** up is one of the dummest things he could have done. Who is he to do that when he produced less than a 36 year old, broken down Patches?
Of all his low moments, that was the lowest. It feels like he's just a bad guy to have in the dressing room at this point, you risk infecting the others with his self-entitled loser attitude. I'll say it again - would love to hear from all the people who have attempted to justify his cap hit with the "he's well liked in the dressing room" bullshit, I could use the laughs.

The dry hair yelling at the bench kills me still😂 Tanev, Carlo and Oel must be like “man wtf are we in for with this circus”
If you change a broom handle and then change the brush is it the same broom?

Tbh, there's countless. Marner has his weaknesses and cringy moments but I absolutely believe he's loved by his teammates. Him remaining friends with so many players that aren't on the team anymore is all the evidence you need really. Still traveling with Holl, always visiting the Marleau family, he brought Thornton on the mentors trip this year, he was in Matt Martin's wedding. Those are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head.

Remember the last time he was caught screeming at his teammates?

The game vs Anaheim where I think the leafs were on a big losing streak to bad teams. Marner, yelled at Holl, for not getting the puck out of the zone. Despite Marner himself having 3 giveaways that game each leading High danger chancss against. 2 ended up in the net the other our goalie at to make a huge save.

Seems like Marner has a history of yelling at his teammates in games where he knows the media is gonna come down hard on him.

I'm sure he has some friends, what's bullshit is using that as an argument to justify his cap hit. And that's especially the case when him being friends just increases the risk of him infecting others with his self-entitled loser attitude.

I would much rather have 2 playoff type performers that put up less points in the regular season for a similar cap hit.

I wonder if there is any chance that Bennett and Marchand would sign here. They both know this market well and grew up as Leaf fans.
I would hope for Bennett and Boeser. Boeser's production doesn't change from regular season to playoffs and puts up the same or more goals as Marner.

He’s pretty tight with Kadri as well.

It's all about his brand and building up his network...planning his retirement, so he could still easily get a job in the NHL after he's done playing hockey.

We're just refruting your statement.
LOLOLOL. If that's what you're trying to do, then your failing miserably. Seems like you've completely misunderstood my "statement" but that's OK, you can always go back and read it again. Maybe ask a friend to help if you're still having trouble.

The thing is we don't want to just make the playoffs, we want to win the Atlantic again which would likely be the case if we brought Marner back. If we don't bring him back it's gonna be tough imo. We'd have to hit homeruns in free agency.
Wrong. We want to make the playoffs, then go deep in the playoffs. Going deep in the playoffs is what it's all about, bizarre that you don't even mention playoff success in your post. Then again, since you're such a passionate Marner fanboy it all makes sense.

We made the playoffs, and we won the Atlantic. What an amazing successful season. Pathetic.

Like I said the whole time, I preferred the stand pat approach. If they couldn't get by Ottawa without Carlo and Laughton, oh well!

I have a feeling like maybe Marner will come back. Too much corporate sense not to and Marner doesn't have the guts to actually leave.
It would take more guts to return imho

Say no to drugs! Xanax is not good for ya.

I mean I wasn’t the one snapping for no reason. So not sure why I’d need the Xanax!
LOL we're that sensitive now are we? I was just making the point that who he is or isn't friends with is completely irrelevant. Why do you care who he's friends with? Does him being friends with whoever help us win in the playoffs?

Don't be such a snowflake.

So if the talking heads and rumours are to be believed, Marner was offered 8 x $13.5m after 23-24, and his agent countered with something over $15m. Which logically means the Marner camp expected to settle for at least $14m.

Crazy!

Jesus Christ, I’m ribbing you about the Xanax that you brought up haha.

What does being a snowflake even mean? Soft or something?
