Player Discussion Mitch Marner Part Infinity

He is a leader of nothing. He did nothing posoitive to get the team over the hump. He should lead his ass out of this market.

Who did it in Toronto core?

Whatevwr where he goes honestly for what ibsaw the chance to see Marner winning a cup before leafs will be higher... I just completly lost faith in this team

Florida was just the better team man. It’s okay to admit that too. The way they activated the d on the forecheck, the smothered the leafs, and just flat out outplayed them badly.
I mean yeah, it's obvious this team sucks.

We won't win a thing till we have a young D developed contributing, but we haven't done that in sooooooooo long. 0 prospects outside of Cowan, still mad about Minten.

The Panthers are a stacked team, you'd think our talent could overcome the stacked roster, but our guys are simply good, not great.

Not every team can win, but the minimum Leafs fans expect is a team that tries and cares.

We have neither. Love to win, don't think it's possible without fixing effort and caring.
Do you think they don't care? Or is it maybe because the leafs fundamentally structured the team wrong as soon as they signed Tavares, and cause of that they constantly had to reshuffle players in and out just to fit under the cap. And also Leafs management purposely babying and shielding our players creating a disconnect with the fans and making them seem emotionless

I answered all your questions. If I missed one you can let me know.
Post #1491 - I'm pretty sure you didn't answer this, if I missed your answer you can let me know.

First you decide if you want to keep him or not. Sounds like you want to keep him, how much are you willing to spend on him?

There were also these two questions, but those could be considered rhetorical so if you don't answer that's fine. The above question though, that was pretty straightforward.
Do you really want this loser back? And are even willing to bend over again on contract negotiations because 1-2 million more doesn't matter? SMH.

I do think they don't care compared to other stars. They care about the media, the golfing, the socialite experience more at least relative to other stars.

Even with our HORRIBLE structure after Tavares, we've underperformed like crazy.

I did reference the fact on top of a horrible attitude, they also just aren't that good.

Nylander only does it like 1/4th of the time, Matthews is one dimensional, and Mitch, well he's perimeter player. I've hated JT since the 2nd year. Hell I kinda hated on him the first year. Thought he could generate more than 80 points.

I hope some of you were not expecting Marner to show up in this series or make a difference particularly in game #7.

Over the course of 9 playoff seasons Marner has played in 7 games 7's and has recorded 0-0-0 points,

Marner managed a total of 3 shots on net in games #3-7 combined.

"A leopard never changes its spots", but hopefully it changes teams.

And yet they are still the best Leafs team, by far, of the past several decades... so we don't have a lot to choose from now do we?
Exactly. It's why we should be counting our apples. We need to have a broader perspective - an "overview effect" on what we are and what we currently have.

Meh, the fact they decided to have on of their wingers, the worse, smaller one, getting 11 after his ELC is what screwed them over. When they did that awful deal, they should let go of the other winger, the one who scores goals

So, blow it up?
You have to let Marner and Tavares walk unless they’re willing to sign for an extremely low number which would give them the cap space to potentially find impact players.
When I say low I mean 4 to 5 million for Marner and I don’t think the NHLPA would like that very much.

I said:

Does it matter if its 1-2 million more? It barely makes a difference to the cap next year — it doesn’t matter. People just want change and want him gone. I’m just saying that change is going to mean regression. I'm not sure how you replace such a pivotal player that gets you to the playoffs every year in this year's free agency.

The woes of the leafs was the cap never going up because of covid, the Leafs fundamentally lack depth. And if you don't want to blame covid - then blame the Tavares signing - the leafs are fundamentally a flawed structure team which is managements fault, not our core players.

This is the most "battered wife syndrome" post I've ever read, oh my goodness.

We can't purge these guys because what we end up with might be worse!!

WORSE? With the exception of the rookie year, the last-place rebuild season was the most fun I've had as a Leafs fan in the last decade. The Phaneuf and Kessel years were more fun. This team is too good for the regular season to be interesting. This team is a guaranteed choker to make the playoffs a miserable experience.

The only way this argument makes any sense is that the Sens are a playoff team again so beating them in the first round every year would be pretty funny. Otherwise, watching these country club losers just isn't fun, or even interesting any more. We've got a rink that empties out during the third period of playoff games and a steady stream of jersey tossers. What the f*** apples are we counting, exactly????

Your fandom is blinding you. Our players are no different than any other star player in the NHL. The problem were Leaf media/fans expectations that they are on the same level as McDavid. We have great star players, they're just among the rest - not the best. But you can still win with that. Our fundamental problem is the structure of the team: the body—not the heart.

The Kessel/Phanuef years were not fun and anyone who says that is being hyperbolic.

Those were some of the worst years. We were a shit team that couldn’t bottom out and we traded all our first round picks. We literally had nothing to look forward to. We couldn’t look forward to the playoffs cause we were shit and we couldn’t look forward to the draft because we didn’t have picks.

It was quite literally one of the WORST eras to watch. It was painful.

Anticipation was that the salary cap would go up like it normally did. But covid happened.

And replace them with who?

The best part of Marner leaving will be you finally shutting up honest to God. Just tired of your constant bitching.

Marner wasn’t great tonight, hence why I said domi deserved to be moved up to line one if there was a switch to be made , it should have been Marner and Domi.
They'll just move on to someone else, unfortunately.

I'd agree with you if they would score goals and lose. We somehow fail to score goals with this flawed offensive structure. Like the top 6 fail to score goals.
