Player Discussion Mitch Marner Part Infinity

sorry, I can't think of them as assets lmao.

Robertson is still young and can score, McMann is on a cheap contract and is a 20 goal scorer. They will have value.

Carlo is another guy you can flip again. Laughton is another guy you can flip again.

I think those 4 are the main guys you’d look at trading.

If you are MM, why would you even want to come back to the Leafs?
If I am in the NHL and is a UFA, even if my whole family is telling me to sign with the Leafs….i probably would not unless Leafs overpaid me, or I have a bong with Coach B or Tre or some players. Bc why would I want to be with these bunch of losers.

would be odd considering he was the biggest loser of them all lol.

He made some plays in the second half of the first...the team played well from the 10 minute mark though the penalty kill. But that was it. After that it was full panic. No poise or composure.

Yeah, these guys are mentally scarred at this point. Impossible to not be. And to lose like they did just emphasizes that.

I mean, I'll still watch and cheer but no way any of these guys can deliver.

If I could move Matthews to NY or LA I would.
I thought his line calmed them down and showed some poise there. But, then proceeded to do nothing, beyond perimeter play, never a threat, it was weak stuff. They just revert every time, whatever perceived progress you've seen, it just evaporates and they all look around for someone do something, instead of saying I'll f***ing do it. Nobody has that internal fortitude to push through, they all disappear and that's why it snowballs.

Exactly, and that’s why they need to rebuilt their core with Knies and build around him.

Also digs and hounds, bur unfortunately tonight, I think his injury really neutered him. He definitely has that playoff jam which you (obviously) need, especially against a heavy team like Florida.

Year after year it’s the same discussion.
Here’s the answer. It makes no difference.
The Shanaplan needs to be purged.
Until then, it doesn’t matter. We wait it out.

Yup, need to start a new with a new vision. Hopefully Mitch goes homes, takes a day to think about everything and then packs his bags. Once Mitch is gone you start looking at other ways to de-shannify this terribly constructed team

He was clearly having trouble getting around the ice, his stride was all f***ed up. Hip?

Matthews goals / 60 and points /60 is literally higher wothout him over the past 3 years.

Matthews 40 plus goal days may be a thing of the past.

You think as time goes on he’ll be healthier, better conditioned, have more passion to produce, more motivated and do so without a premium playmaker? The book is out on shutting him down, I don’t see a push back, and we are well down the road of this Selke narrative. And insofar as everyone’s pre-made excuses for him to save whatever he’s got for the playoffs? Yeah don’t see him powering his way through 50 goal years anymore.

Knies is really our shining hope now. That kid is a beast and the future is bright with him. We need to protect and build around him.
If it’s up to me.
Trade AM to Rangers for Miller and 1sts
Trade Reilly to Preds for picks and Marchessault.
Trade Kampf and Calle to clear cap space.
Sign Bennett, Ekblad, Brown and Marchand.

I’m not scooping up Florida stuff, overpay and then have Florida’s next group of fresh killers come in and stomp all over.
