Player Discussion Mitch Marner Part Infinity

Nice to see Marner on the board, if he didn't have confidence before he should have it now for sure. Throw it at the net, rebounds are good. It's not something you should do 100% of the time, but a fair percentage of the time for sure. GLG!!

Another year...another intermission of Biz doing a highlight package of Marner mistakes/bad decisions leading to goals against or chances going the other way.

Ha yeah, there's been so many games where Marner goes pointless and there's all these posts here about all the "magic" things he does to contribute. So far tonight is the opposite of that, 2 points but a number of ugly moments where he doesn't exactly look like the player some say is the smartest in hockey history.

One period to go, one chance for redemption for Marner and the rest of the team as well. Sending positive vibes, hoping for a big 3rd period, would be ideal to see Marner set up Matthews for the winner. GLG!!

Argh, only 6, but close though!
Yep big game for them... Biz dedicated yet another intermission segment to highlight Marners soft plays, one of them resulting in a goal. Where Marner junped the zone and tries to cheat for an odd man rush.

Guess what poster said him doing this would come back and haunt us in the playoffs?

Only saw him doing 2-3 things that directly led to goals against though. A gassed Nylander didn’t work hard enough on the OT and seems to get the wrath of Leafs Nation in the Post Game Thread though?

I didn't like his game last night. If Marner were Rantanen we likely win that one. He is just too soft and it's so obvious.

I only really remember 1 but he was gassed and was trying to get off on the long change and benoit should have got that out of the zone

Might’ve counted wrong! But that one was totally on him, but there’s always (ish) someone’s fault when a team lets a goal in :)

I must say I like the way Marner is playing so far. I vividly remember how bad he was in game 3 against Florida, much better this time around. TBH I thought his last 3 points came on plays where he did nothing special whatsoever but this has nothing to do with points. So many times he's faded away after the first 4 games of the playoffs but not this time.

Not giving out final grades until the playoffs are over so not drawing any final conclusions just yet but so far so good. Last night there were a few moments where I thought he looked really bad but overall, he's playing hard, he's competing, definitely doing a lot more good than bad and hopefully the best for him this spring is yet to come. He's not quite looking like a dominating, top 5 winger in the world just yet but who knows, maybe game 4 is where Matthews comes alive and M&M have a big night, we'll see. GLG!!
