Player Discussion Mitch Marner Part Infinity

So we'll never be able to compare players that play differently? Surely we can say at some point enough offence outshines defence, especially at the winger position.

Just look at Jokic.
Some people (not gonna mention any names LOL) believe that any comparisons that don't make Marner look super crazy elite are well, silly. :)

At least this infinity one isn't a ten digit number version like the last one that my phone reads like a phone number and asks if I want to dial it.

This is still going on? I keep ignoring the threads but you guys keep creating new ones. Not sure I need [users] to keep spewing selective stats in a lame attempt to prove MM is an AHLer lol
Did someone say Marner was an AHL player?

Strawman fallacy - where someone misrepresents or oversimplifies another person’s argument to make it easier to attack or refute. Instead of engaging with the actual argument, they create a "straw man" version—something that looks like the original but is weaker or distorted—and then proceed to dismantle that version.

The winner is Marchessault

Nice! Happy our 11 million and 13.25 million linemates are amongst that elite group of highly paid players.

Now show us where they rank in scoring stats. I wonder what the names on that list will look like.
Producing at a 100 point and PPG pace in these playoffs while producing 1st and 3rd best defensive results in the playoffs. While playing against the opposition’s best line every night.
No one is saying they have been perfect but they have shown up and are doing exactly what you asked for all year.
But seemingly it isn’t enough. Cause the goal posts always have to move before you would have to give any credit.

Wait...doesnt that graph say 2021 until now?

Why do certain posters keep changing topics and arguing things nobody is arguing?

Its called a strawman fallacy, look it up.

If you want to talk about a narrower topic, let's do it. But thats not what the graph i responded to is... so why you quoting me?

I love

That's such an underrated stat. Especially when you factor in the matchups. Wow.

What a polarizing player. Some people love him here and others will be happy to see him walk.

I think he’s going to for the highest payday he can get and if he was asked to waive his no trade clause for Rantanen then I can’t see him wanting to come back. I think that sealed it.

Only problem with that is the percentage of the cap they take to make up 1 line left us with weak depth so if they end up at a stale mate your basically putting the onus on the second line to carry the offence which is difficult especially when third and fourth lines were net negatives so basically the difference now is the second line is killing the competition and aren’t giving up much either which makes you wonder why the top line can’t do the same we seen willie was getting their top defensive pair and still producing we need more period it’s great what they’re doing but we need more

I find myself somewhere in the middle but absolutely baffled by his detractors.
He deserves some criticism and is far from a perfect player.
But when he does perform well there is a small group here who refuse to acknowledge it.
It was the same during the 4 nations tournament. Out of the 2 OT games Canada had there he scored one goal and set up the tournament winner and they still had to complain.
Now in the playoffs this year he is scoring at a 100 point pace, while shutting down his opponents best line and has a primary point on both game winners in the second round. And they just can’t acknowledge it.

I find even his most loyal supporters in here will acknowledge when he has bad games or needs to improve but the other side just won’t do the same when he plays well.
