None of them deserve a pass.

It's a 35million dollar line with Knies carrying the goal scoring. I'll give Marner credit, turnovers are gone and he's playing clutch. Now how much credit for a chip pass and a chucked puck who cares we're up 2-0.
I can respect that stance for sure. It's interesting that even when Marner is playing better, a good share of people who dislike him can't even admit to him playing better. So kudos to you.

The negativity around him when he is actually playing well baffles me. He scored a game winner yesterday and assisted the game winner on Friday.

Bottom line is that we need all the players to get going to reach our common goal. To win the Stanley Cup.

The way he lets the puck ride up to the heel of his stick to get it to stand?

My personal view is that it's not an accident - I'm being absolutely serious when I say that too.
That’s some serious coping.

He scored on a bad shot which the goalie should’ve saved 99,9% of the time. Good for him! Why make it more than it was?

Anyone see the way Marner let's puck the ride up the blade of the stick before he heels it towards net?

I'm not entirely sure that fluttering circus shot was an accident, tbh.
From what I've seen, the puck doesn't "ride up" anywhere, the heel of the stick is where the puck first makes contact.

If you share the replay you're looking at I'd be happy to take a look but for now, I'm sorry but I just don't buy it. In that split second, Marner planned and executed some sort of circus trick? I don't think so.

Amen brother.

No, that was a quick shot on the goalie instead of losing it on the half boards. Really weak by Bryzgalov to let that in, like really really weak. Good for the Leafs that it went in though!

That Nylander goal though, that was some real skill. Skate, and volley backhand up close in high speed. Yikes

I’m gonna be honest, I don’t care whether the goal was skillful or not. I care that it was scored and it secured the win.

Caring about the type of goal or whether it was pretty or not is just some bs to me and an excuse to dislike a players contribution. It doesn’t matter at the end of the day how it gets done, as long as it gets done.

Well, it’s the result that counts, but if you don’t care, then why are you making up this story that his goal was planned/amazing/thought out with rose-tinted glasses then?

To be fair, it does look like he collects it on purpose but either way, its a fun goal to watch back. Legendary replayability.

Yeah agreed. If anything I want Marner to shoot more, he's been getting too cute forcing passes and doing wraparounds instead of just driving to the net or taking a straight line shot.

He does attempt those types of shots from the point frequently and the book is out on Bob to shoot high .. IMO it was absolutely planned and absolutely thought out.

I watched from another angle this morning. It wasn’t an accident and people are saying he was scared to get hit, the defender wasn’t even attempting to hit him, rather just get in the lane and block the shot.

"Marner doesn't shoot enough!"

*Marner scores the winner*

"Marner only shoots because he's a coward!"

The same posters are also the ones who say all that matters is results, everything else is irrelevant. Our two wins, Marner was part of the game winners, period. These guys just gravitate to whatever slight fits the moment. Notice how none of them bring up the three clears he made in the dying moments? Just great clutch stuff from the guy, zero complaints.
