I love Mitch sets up the winner and a Hugh shot block to preserve the win. We better resign him.
IMO that depends on how he performs in the rest of the playoffs and what his ask is, but plenty of time to think about that once the playoffs are over.

My main takeaway from tonight's game is that it's a good thing that Nylander will be a Maple Leafs for many years to come. Unlike Matthews and Marner, he showed he really wants to be here by committing to the max term and what a game tonight. That 1st period, just wow. That has to be one the all time great single period playoff performances in Maple Leaf history and it came in such a huge game. Nylander showed he can do it all, and most importantly, that he rises to the occasion when the pressure is on the biggest moments. What a player!

I'll give Mitch credit. It's not 13mil worth, but he's absolutely been a huge positive. Especially compared to getting caved in last year.

If Matthews finishes I think Marner looks a lot better. Now of course, Marner needs to compensate for Matthews lack of finishing ability and finish something himself, but I've been mostly happy with is play outside of game 5-6 against Ottawa.

So you would agree Domi is a better playmaker than Marner then? Your logic is if someone has more points, then they are the better player?

Remember how for years people were pumping Marner as the leagues best playmaker. Enter journeyman 3rd liner, Max Domi. Over the past two seasons, Domi has more first assists/60 than Marner. Now you have to admit, thats kinda funny? Are the Leafs just loaded with goal scorers who are boosting assists? How is it possible that Domi has more first assists over 2 FULL SEASONS than pass first Marner?

Just under Mackinnon and Drai!

Weakest team in the playoffs and Marner managed 1 goal and 5 5v5 shots in 6 games. Hes going to fall worse than Huberdeau if he goes to a team without an elite player to cling to.
I honestly wish Carolina beats Washington. Carolina always comes across as a team to me that Marner would both light the lamp against and for. I can imagine him fitting in pretty well with their core.

Not the worst game, but it wasn’t that great either

He made a great play to knies no doubt, has a couple good and bad plays mixed throughout.

I do however expect more from him

I think it’s time to break up the line, just spread the big boys out. Give Matthews, Domi and put Marner with McMann and Holmberg and have three scoring lines.

Maybe the dumbest thing I've read on here. There are a lot of players who play with elite players who get nowhere near 100 points. He's obviously going to be over a ppg player even without Matthews.
You should try reading his other anti Marner diatribes, the dumbest stuff you'll ever read.

Some things can be argued for and against. The one thing that can not be argued against is the lack of production in playoff elimination games. This also applies to round 2 games as well simply because we have seen him fade Vs FLA prior as well. Last night was a comical joke effort. He was a liability and Matthews was trying to make it work and then went down the shitter too.

AM MM need split up. 100% a valid observation and argument.

Like the boys on leafs nation said we’re not paying 13 mil for shot bloccing and he had a key segment to close out the win for us but needs to be much better then he was today we have much higher expectations for him atleast I do

Would help if his sniper linemate could snipe occasionally, he's getting plenty of looks.
That’s not the case and it hasn’t been all year we can complain over and over about the same thing or we can change the way we perform on that line or break it up cause right now we have 2 lines we love and we actually could have 4 with one switch let’s see if the coach gets it

He was horrible against Florida 2 years ago, so far so good this time so that's a positive for sure. As I've said from the start, I don't want to criticize anyone, I hope they all play great and I'm not giving out any grades until the playoffs are over.

That doesn't even make sense, so he's going to suddenly snipe on another line? Hes getting chances, that's all that matters line construction wise, it's on him to finish and it doesn't change on another line. You're going to change the second line? You want him on a third line? That's just dumb.

If your confused on the message I was conveying the second line and the third line are keepers currently Matthews hasn’t been scoring with marner all season and marner is a better scorer than Hes showing he usually scores more away from Matthews swap him and domi we’ve seen that Matthews and domi with bertuzzi worked Knies is a way better version of that and put marner with bobby and holmberg where he’ll get secondary matchups and become a nightmare for Florida to match their baccend against you get it?p.s of course the dinosaur @ACC1224 is gonna like your rebuttal lol never cease to amaze me that guy

No them being passengers at the most important time is dumb you think opportunities is all that matters? This is the nhl playoffs there’s no participation ribbons being given out it’s a results oriented business my friend

Marner with Holmberg. Man that's a great answer. Gross. And weaken your top line defensively for matchups. Again, he isn't going to suddenly find the net with Domi the way he's playing, he's getting a ton of chances, so what you're arguing doesn't jive with generation. Now if he wasn't getting the puck, you'd have a point, but I don't think a pass from Domi or Marner in a prime spot really affects his shot.
