He has done himself zero favors with the fans. His team has been atrocious. He picks fights with the media.

why not even exchange numbers. Home town. Wife is from here. Wife having a baby. All the supports are here, endorsements, his foundations (cough tax shelter).

Why not talk negotiations. Makes no sense.

Rantanen's game isn't the dunk Marner detractors think it is. It's a cautionary tale. You pay your best players. Period. You can be ruthless and win sometimes, like a Vegas has - but you can be ruthless and painfully lose in gut-wrenching fashion like Colorado has. And you DON'T under any circumstances - want to be Colorado here.

Good wake up call for everybody not pulling for ALL our Leaf Boyz, to get the f on board and support these dudes through this 2nd round. Get on side, fellas. Change your narratives, at least for this round. They're gonna need everyone of us with them, I believe.

If the Leafs offered $13.5m he probably would have signed IMO. Rumour is Leafs ceiling was $13m. Now we wait to see if Marner can help beat the Panthers. If not, he's gone IMO.

It would be insane to pay Marner more than this guy.

It isn't about dunking on Marner, it's about accurately evaluating players. Rantanen is better than Marner.

A lot of people specifically in this thread have a hard time admitting it. 99% of the NHL fandom outside of Leafs fans would take Rantanen over Marner.

All I can say is the people who think Ottawa proved anything are hilariously wrong. Florida series will be an actual test to see if we're just 2nd round bounced every year or a serious contender.

The better defender is only good when it comes with equal or better offense side bar where the hell was makar there was no Heiskanen and he was a ghost looks a lot less shiny after this post season
