He was good Game 2, hit a post and set up a few chances. Played almost 24 minutes too.

According to Broadcast team, "he missed an open net"....

Please explain what this is saying about Marner relative to Matthews, Knies, Tavares, Nylander.

so far Matthews has been good, Marner passable, and Nylander useless
??

Matthews has generated decent chances on the pp

Marner on the pp is doing his role, facilitating the puck. He isn't going to make those highlight reel plays on the pp because of where he plays, he just needs to make the safe and reliable plays

Nylander has been great as well lol. Huge parts in 2 goals we scored in G1 and showed great skating and passing/vision to find rielly on the backdoor cut

Hell f***ing JT has been dynamite. Win's all the faceoffs, isn't being a total bum on the pp (in fact the opposite), and isn't costing us with brutal mistakes and/or having his slow skating be exposed.

If I had to rank them rn I'd go: JT, Marner, Nylander, Matthews

even though matthews is the lowest, he is still easily having a great series so far, the other three have just been even more spectacular IMO

Since you asked
5V5
1 g (jumping O-zone breakaway)
1 point
2 shots (only 1 shot other than breakaway goal)
4 giveaways (team leader)
1 takeaway
1 hit
Ranks among team lowest in hits,
Yep definitely playing like a 12
Million guy against maybe the weakest team in the playoffs.

Wondering when that Gretzky playmaking we always here about comes into effect? He has around 3 primary assists in past 30+ games.

He's no Rantanen so far, but he might get there...

It says that Marner is a valuable part of that excellent line.

Expected stats good now?
Lol, I learned that phrase from the main boards. It is used to criticize Maple Leaf fans demenstrating that Ottawa has actually been better in the series. It is absurd, so I use it for Marner in my facetious posts... It represents the lengths people will go to trash a player or team.

Neutral visitor, but how confident are you guys that Mitch can produce against a forecheck physical team like Florida in round 2 if it happens?
The team will probably have him stapled to the bench until they stop being mean.

To my eye…he’s doing his annual routine where he refuses to skate north with the puck. A lot of cutbacks and hanging out at the blueline like in prior playoffs.

I think we need more from him and 34 five on five.

This has to be so distressingly painful for the Marner haters.

Scoring the OT winner in Game 1 of the Four Nations then up the tying goal and then setting up the OT championship winning goals the Four Nations was bad enough.

But leading the Leafs to a 3-0 series stranglehold with SIX (6) points so far must be absolutely traumatizing.

Sorry about your luck, Marner haters.

Amazing how badly he's playing. Luckily others are doing the heavy lifting so he gets to fight another day. Wait, did I say Marner ... fight? Yeah right, that'll happen.

I hope that absolute top-echelon pass is enough to quiet down a few posters from posting 100 times a day until next game.

Doubt it, but one can hope.

What a player on all ends of the puck.

He’s been excellent this series, the whole line/team has.
Pretty tough not to be happy about anything with the team right now.

The Marner haters are going to be pointing out that Mitch hasn’t had a penalty shot in this series and has ZERO (0) shorthanded points.
