You sound familiar? Have you posted here before? Lmao!
 Seems rather obvious.

He played great last night, again, the Prime crew did a nice job highlighting the little things he does. Hockey “people” get it.

That move has worked before, so I get trying it again. That said, I’d rather he just shoot.
Time to put that to bed. I don't think he does that though in a closer game.

@Mess updated plus/minus, does this align with your projections? Weird you don't do these anymore, lose your bookmark?

Here's the top 10.

I think that a 12 X 8 extension should be there for him right now. If he wants more than that, wait and see after the playoffs.

I still say wait until playoffs, Marner is fighting to stay a member of his hometown team. Remember he's one of us, he's a die hard Leafs fan and understands his career as a Leaf is in jeopardy if he doesn't perform this post-season.

Don't give him the comfort of knowing he's here long term, I think a huge part of the reason he's playing how he is, is #1 he wants to remain a leaf, #2 he wants a pay day. I'd rather not take his motivation away.

For me there is enough pressure here in the playoffs that you don't need to heap more on his slender shoulders.
I do see the point in waiting, I just don't think it's the right approach in this instance.

What happens if he re-signs and then struggles again in the playoffs leading to another first-round exit?

Suddenly the Leafs are trapped with the core minus Tavares.

There's no reason to extend him at any amount until the playoffs roll around and he proves himself under the brightest of lights.

Marner is having a great season offensively and defensively yet he remains the most under appreciated Leaf.
He's very popular outside of 1/2 a dozen or so here.
The team understands his value which is really all that matters.

Im not sure it adds any more pressure being unsigned. If he signs a hometown deal then it could alleviate a bit, but a big deal just adds more weight IMO

Yeah I get there are varied opinions on this. I believe the relief of knowing he’s not playing for his Leaf life will help him.
The weight of not having a contract would be greater than the weight of having one, IMO.

It should all come down to the playoffs for Marner, who has been a career disappointment in the playoffs when the team needs him most. Many that want him re-signed now know he lights up the regular season, and struggles come playoff time. Should he enter the playoffs unsigned and repeat his poor performance the Leafs are more then likely going to move on from him. IMO

Marner and Mikko Rantanen are both pending UFA's, and I personally prefer the big power forward from the Avs at the same price point.

Particularly when it comes to playoff performance, where Rantanen outproduces Marner by triple in GOALS and double in POINTS over their careers.

In not Anti Marner, I'm simply Pro Rantanen when it comes to wanting the best for my Leafs and hopefully another Stanley Cup in my lifetime because 1967 was a long time ago while waiting between wins.

Mitch Marner’s run since early November is something to behold. The Leafs wizard has recorded two points in nine of 11 games and been held off the scoresheet only by Ottawa, on Nov. 12, in that span

But don’t forget about playoffs

You know the playoff where he is our leading scorer, finishes ever playoff in the plus,
He doesn’t compare to nylander in the playoffs who shows up for every game and finishes each playoff in the minus

Oh I forgot to mention most of marners points are secondary assists

Did I get all that right
