Let’s easy up on Marner he’s playing solid for us reserve your contempt for the playoffs though I expect him to be better than he has been in the past

@thewave

So I did some research, it was uncommon for 8th overalls to get the schedule B bonuses. Rantanen did not get. Neither did Nylander

But it was very common for 4th overalls to get the schedule B bonuses.

Nicklas Backstrom - received
Thomas Hickey - did not receivve
Alex Pietrangelo - received
Evander Kane - received
Ryan Johansen - received
Adam Larsson - did not receive
Griffin Reinhart - received
Seth Jones - received
Sam Bennett - received

Also we know that Marner did not consider Rantanen a comparable. So it really doesn't matter if Rantanen got one. He compared himself to Matthews

Imagine if old Mitchy played like he's playing now when Matthews is back and fully healthy, and when Willie is at the top of his game, and now that JT is off to a good start and averaging a PPG.

Especially in the playoffs, you need all your stars to dominate and believe they can be the best player on the ice. There's no time for complacency, no space for passengers.

I seem to recall there was resentment in his camp that he was sent back to jr after being drafted 4th overall.

First resentment as I recall was when they signed Marleau as they thought it would push him down the roster and limit his points.

Actually was probably when Lou shut down the memorabilia site they started up before playing a game.

He had an awful camp immediately after being drafted, he wasn’t ready. Turned out to be the best thing for him. I think it was the bonuses. He was told no one gets them, so he agreed to sign understanding that would be the organizational standard and at the time he was the organizations best prospect. That was immediately thrown out the door the next year with Matthews. That would definitely create some resentment.

3 games without Matthews, 0 five-on-five points. Wants a raise on $11 million? Detroit, Montreal, Ottawa opponents.
This guy is so happy this happened. Forget the 3-1 record because some how this guy can't count and it's been 4 games without Matthews, I wonder if that's because it changed the stats for the positive.

4 games without Matthews and 0 5v5 points for Marner... and you think that makes it better than 3 games without a point? I'm not surprised.

Let me tell you some wild Marner stats:

He has 0 5v5 points in his last 5 games

He only has a 5v5 shot in 2/5 games. In those 2 it was only 1 shot.

He only has 3 primary assists 5v5 and we are 20% done the season. Only 1 of them was an intentional pass.

Some posters think he's still worth 11 million+ and should be signed.

I ignored the other threat because it was infuriating, and now you’ve sucked me back in with another one. Thanks. 😅

lol, only 5v5 nonsense. How'd he do on the PP and PK in that time and in comparison to the rest of the team?

Exactly! They don't see the truth. It's right there in the numbers
