There is a point at which Hart trophy references are going to start being made. Has there been a better player in the NHL this season?
All around, he's in the conversation. People undercount defence and playmaking. His consistency is really impressive. People around the league are all buzzing about his game, this place is a drag.

I think Necas is also in the conversation, he’s been exceptional for Carolina. I’d say between him and Mitch.
Carolina is kicking themselves for not going long term on him.

Honestly I think they went with the bridge deal cause he too has underwhelmed in the playoffs.

Oh 100% they should have locked up Necas. I agree, he didn’t have a great playoffs last two years, but he was getting virtually no PP time haha. Nice to see him make good on his opportunity now that Guentzel is gone

Like some of us said at the start of the season, by November most of the fan base would be clamoring to have him resigned. Here we are. Anyone still want to let him walk for nothing?

I find it more interesting that the narrative has now changed from Marner needed Matthews to Berube putting Marner back on that line to help get Matthews going again. Both those guys benefit from each other. I still want them separated once Domi gets back. We don’t want Marner or Matthews to fall into bad habits.

Nothing wrong with different looks at different times to keep things fresh.

Berube won't let that happen. These guys are going to lead the leafs to the cup final this season.

At that point, you will have to pay him $14 million
relax wait till the playoffs

I definitely think the Leafs are poised to make an Oilers type run. Defensively this team is sound. The biggest difference I see is systems.

Man, having the coaching staff we have now it’s very evident there were major gaps in the systems under Keefe. That’s not to say Keefe is a bad coach, he’s doing well in New Jersey too. But the attention to detail is just way better this year. Berube, Van Ryn, Savard and Lambert have this group dialed into the little details for success. Under Keefe, we’d be pushing for offense with a 3-1 lead. Berube and his staff have the leafs in 1-2-2 in the neutral zone and just dumping and killing clock. Nashville got a lucky goal on a broken play but I never felt like the game was going to get away from us.

There is a reason he will win coach of the year. The leafs will be the cup favourite when the season ends.

People have the memory of goldfish on here lol.

Amazing how the biggest Marner supporters are dead silent from April-October but slowly build up their confidence in November only to hide away again at the end of the season.
It’s like clockwork on here.

It is what is is. He’s been really good this season, as he usually is, but the arrogance of some on here to act like anyone criticizing him crazy is astounding.

No one hides at the end of the season, but it is hard to argue with people who can't credit Marner with any good series, they don't live in reality.

Reads like projection. Also kind of sad to be honest.
