Missing on JT and getting Pietrangelo instead would have been much better. A 1D instead of an overpriced 2C? Absolutely!

we can say that in hindsight, there's also the chance maybe Pietrangelo wouldn't have signed here. So we can't really go off what if's.

So Francis my question remains, do we have any quotes of Nylander saying he would take a discount if Matthews does (we all knew that wasn't happening anyways) or is it just media speculation? Because frankly, I don't think Michael Nylander would ever let the word "discount" come from his son's lips...then again saying you'll take a discount if Matthews does is pretty meaningless, practically speaking.

Tavares needs one to be productive at this stage. The other should drive his own line for the money he gets.

I think they would play great together. But i understand it will never happen.

I realy dont care what Tavares need. Put him on the first line then. Or Maby Marner and Nylander together with Tavares works. We have tried Nylander on third line before. Not good. And Marner will never go below second line.

I'm not sure if there's a direct quote of him saying that or if it's just purely speculation, or was said in passing. Only thing he said is he wants to stay in Toronto. I think with everything it should be taken with a grain of salt.

With news of the increasing salary cap I could see more ufa’s making it to July 1st to test the market.

I was all in for signing Tavares. I just did not consider the consequences when it came to negotiations with the 3 amigos. I never understood signing Marleau. That was Lou's dumbest move.

Don't know why a UFA would drive RFA negotiations.

Seems to me the GM (or his bosses) screwed up.

Would the Leafs have been any worse with 4 1st. round picks to use after marner offersheet?

I think I'd take the younger combination, although I still think marner can feed pucks to any shooter, and not sure Bennett is anything more than a #3 center.

Marleau, geez, someone should write a book about how this whole thing failed, just a long series of bad moves. Obviously, spending that 4th large contract on a stud dman would have been the correct thing to do, and we did have Kadri to pencil in at 2C.

I would love to read a book about the whole thought process during all of Kyle's reign. Every move they made, I want to know why.
