Marner is at the mercy of his opposition as far as time and space goes. If they crank up the intensity and take away his time and space he becomes a puck flipper.

Sadly, Marner is a soft, small non-physical winger, who becomes the equivalent of bringing a Knife to a Gun fight when regular season hockey becomes playoff tight checking, hard hitting, pressure filled Cup winning hockey.

The stats don't LIE !!!

Against Columbus .. 0 goals 4 assists 4 points in 5 games & Season Over
Against Montreal ... 0 goals 4 assists 4 points in 7 games & Season Over
Against Florida ... 1 goal 2 assists 3 points in 5 games & Season Over
Last year against Boston 1 goal 2 assists 3 points in 7 games & Season Over

Over 4 losing series 2 goals 12 assists a mere 14 points in 24 games. Even as a PPG player Mitch owes us 10 missing goals and assists to reach the floor of production expectations. This is what the Leafs are getting for $11 mil a year return on investment and this guy thinks he should be making + $13 mil on next deal.

Leafs might as well use Marner just to make the playoffs, and then put him in the press box for the playoffs, insert a playoff performer for what little contribution they get once the REAL hockey begins. Surely one can find 3rd and 4th line players making a lot less, capable of scoring 2 goals over 24 games over 4 losing series.

Mitch Marner is the epitome of a "Regular season Warrior, but a playoff Paper Tiger". and its so damn frustrating as a diehard Maple Leafs fan to watch this guy struggle year after painful year of early Leaf exits to endure.

This has to be LAST CHANCE for Mitch to put up or shut-up and move on this year.

I dont understand why certain people get so upset. We are using actual stats and perfomances/results to show them, hey he isnt really that good at helping us in the playoffs.

It's like you show people a donkey And you sit there and you say hey look it's a donkey. They look at you puzzled and keep saying over and over it's not a donkey! Then frustration sets in, you say look it's a donkey, it's right there it has donkey ears, face, head, lips on a donkey body and they're just like, nope, not a donkey stop hating on real donkeys and gas lighting me you hater.

Sooner rather than later the statue of limitations of SECOND chances has got to run out for Marner.

He is currently 0-8 in the playoffs and when was the last time any Leaf fan said .. Thank goodness we had Magic Mitch in the playoffs or we would have been an easy out in Round #1? We are that easy OUT because of his direct lack of contribution.

This is year 9 of the Marner playoff experiment. Colour me skeptical if you like, but after witnessing his past 8 playoff years, suddenly believing that this is the year is that its going to be different, and now believe the 9th time is going to be the charm.

That is why I'm hoping that Leafs DO NOT commit any contract extension until Marner shows up in this years playoffs and is also a Difference Maker as anyone would expect if you want to be one of the highest paid players in the game.

Its time to fish or cut bait for Magic Mitch, and prove all his doubters wrong including myself, that Leafs simply can't win WITHOUT him, because they certainly have convinced me the can certainly lose WITH him. IMO

In Edmonton McDavid plays on a line with a Rocket winner and a grinder who put up 50+ goals last year. With team Canada, they have him with a 57 goal scorer and an 82 assist, soft, perimeter player. Will be interesting to see how it works out.

Here's hoping the Tkachuk brothers bring their A game. The last thing I want to see is another All Star exhibition game. Then again, that is the only championship the 3 amigos have won as a threesome.

Guessing Reinhart is going to be the one digging pucks out to McDavid while Mitch watches from the blueline. McDavid needs to go back to being the 64 goaler he was two years ago for the line to work.

Why are you focused on goals? Stolarz zero goals scored this year... he sucks. Tanev not a goal scorer... he sucks... am I doing this right? Kinda silly to use goals as a metric of value for a player who is not a goal scorer, for any position.
