Missing Posters

Easily one of the worst periods of time here for interesting discussion was right after the cup and through the next season. You couldn't say anything even close to critical without at least 20 people telling you they won the cup so you're wrong. It was insufferable. No good debate, no good discussion. Just I win the argument because they won a cup, so ****...

Yeah, I remember when we won and in the off-season I was frustrated that Chiarelli went in really cheap with Corvo and Pouliot. I voiced that opinion and was summarily laughed at, I guess people forget how management can affect the mindset of a team. Chiarelli went in and told these guys they were the champs, they believed it and got lazy. When Detroit won, they got Hossa. I really believe that kind of move is what got them to game 7 the next year, those players were motivated by management moves to help them improve.

I think the Boychuk trade was more damaging mentally than losing another talented player (which also hurts).

I agree with this 100%. The moving of Boychuk with no viable replacement right before the season started basically showed the players that the GM was willing to make the team worse. If the GM doesn't care about putting the best possible team on ice and setting them up for success, why would they? He showed them this season was going to be a wash before it even started.

Pretty similar to right now. Any positive thinking and you are called stupid and blind for not seeing what is front of you.

There's always been a fair amount of noise on either side of a debate here. But like you say, the most vocal now are making it personal and attacking the poster rather than the view, and that's just weak. That's the biggest difference from back in the day to now. People disagreed all the time and things got heated, but it was always about the point of view and it was very rarely made personal. Now it's like you get 2 posts in, and the insults and name calling starts. And it's not just from the new posters. Some of the long time posters here have been just as guilty of it, if not more so.

I was skeptical but hopeful with the Seguin trade (I still am, though I admit its basically stubbornness).

But man...that Boychuk trade, though. Sucked the wind out of the sails and for what? Why did they trade Boychuck? For five months of cap relief? That is ********.

Does Kaoz still post under a different name? He was one of the better posters on here for a while

I think I can speak for everybody here in saying that I would love for BcBruin to chime in considering the deadline is almost a week away.

I can't remember the name of the other fellow, but I vaguely remember his avatar. It was of his son (I'm guessing), playing what it looks to be pee wee hockey. But he indeed was connected.

And of course, Dom.

Wonder Boy. I believe that is who you are thinking of. I think another poster assailed him a few months back.

I misinterpreted the thread title, thought this was who the fans "wished" would go missing and my ego said "betcha I`m on that list":)

Lots of great posters have decided to move on from here, probably due to loads of reasons. I still love this place, and while I haven`t been around as long as many, the quality of posts has decreased but it doesn`t mean there still isn`t great conversations/disagreements going on here.

Only read the last 2 or 3 pages, but I hope I am wrong, but I fear the worst for Old Man John. He had a birthday thread a month or two ago, and I don't think he responded in it.
Hope I am wrong.

No one would have wished that.

I hope that some of our missing posters will read this and they would contact any of the Bruins mods ( bruinsfan1970 , Mr. Make-Believe , smithformeragent , TP , Fenway , Gee Wally ) with any concerns they have.

I suspect the lackluster play of the team the past 2 seasons is a major reason for the dropoff.

I am in no way shape or form saying I am a missed poster, but if any one has the same mind set I do then I can see why we lost some.

I post in the OT thread because it's like the Planet Fitness of HF. I like the judgement free zone. But I read and don't contribute to the hockey threads because I was tired of not being able to have an opinion, and peoples inability to debate without degrading their opponent. Just my two cents

I'm here folks don't worry, I am not quitting yet.

I talk to Dom and he sends his love to the gals.

He's a real good egg. I've been out with him and to watch games. He introduced me to a couple of scouts and a Director of Amateur Scouting for an Eastern team. Guy is a good evaluator- better than me and it hurts to say that:laugh:

anyways we keep in touch and when I head up to Canada next time I'm sure we will hook up (he refuses to let me pay for the beers:nod:) but I do owe him

Definitely not. Top 10 poster, at least (imho).

I read through this whole thread from beginning to end thinking all the 2015 was actually 2016, but it all makes more sense now - not least the part where Arthur wrote "I propose that the Bruins board should have one thread for all of the asterisked posters of years gone by that is just an unmoderated sandbox for them to play in and the rest of us to spectate" (supposedly three days ago, but in reality a year and three days), only to have an asterisk show up next to his name. Sure made me think "Well, that was quick work"

2013...

I really haven't posted a lot in a few years, I just come on to see trade rumors and prospect info. GDT's are a thing of the past for me, otherwise I'd probably be rocking the asterisk a long time ago.

If anyone was wondering...know I probably said some stupid stuff time to time.

If you were on that list, it's time to shut this thing down.
