I’m filing a missing persons report for two parties who were last seen together. Jim Rutherford and Patrick Allvin.

Rutherford is described as a Caucasian male, 70’s, 5’2, slim build, white hair and wears glasses.

Allvin is described as a Caucasian male, early 50’s, slim build and also wears glasses.

Both parties were last seen together at or near Roger’s Arena. Please do no approach them if you are in the media, especially Rutherford, they do get spooked easily.

Rutherford and Allvin enjoy talking to other GM’s on the phone but prefer not to actually take any action.

Allvin is well known for destroying a solid defence and turning them into a bottom 5 defense in the league. However, when asked he enjoys blaming everyone else on the team.

If you are a 1st round pick or prospect please be careful, you will likely be shipped off or packaged up for a middling defender or bottom 6 player.

If you see either of these two men please call the authorities, they have been missing in action for months.

In my view, unpopular as it may be, Rutherford and Allvin are absolutely correct to avoid commenting right now. Much as fans and media might enjoy watching them squirm, there is nothing they could honestly say that would help matters and saying negative things to the public isn't going to do anybody any good.

And let's be real, if you put a mic in front of either and asked them to explain where they were going, Jim would sewer Bruce and PA would call Petey a wittle baby who lost his soother.

Keep these guys away from a podium until something gets done, it *will not* be helpful.

This is the exact same criticism people had for the Gillis regime. Way too much patience and not enough open communication with the media. I’d take patience 10/10 times over a Benning panic trade that cripples the future of the team.

Management is seeing the same product we are and are likely working the phones to get something done. I’d rather they take their time and make the right move that makes sense over getting something done ASAP to appease the ADHD segment of the fan base who wants to see a big move for the sake of a big move.

Wait. So the first complaint is that these guys make bad moves, and the 2nd is that they haven't made any moves yet? Lose/lose, eh?

Patience is key here. Small moves won't accomplish anything, and moving star players mid-season is tough, and absolutely something that should not be rushed. High profile knee-jerk moves to salvage 1 season's playoffs aspirations, are totally not what this team needs.

Take it slow, let the bidding war heat up as the trade deadline approaches. Pull the trigger when the time is right.

If there's something that's a not understood by the public that they can help address, then sure they could speak up.

But if the only thing they could do is either lie tha everything is great or tell the truth and confirm what is already known but lower their leverage even further or add even more drama then staying silent is bad, but is less bad than the alternatives.

And until they can make a move that makes sense then keeping quiet publicly while working behind the scenes and waiting for the right opportunity is the only play left.

I don't necessarily disagree, and I think some of this (at least from my perspective) was made in jest...but management had to know fairly early on that this defensive group was not up to snuff and they have pretty much decided that this season can go down the tube...there is no way to know if they had any opportunities to salvage things...but they built it, they own it and if you own it you should come out and stand in front of the media instead of making it Quinn Hughes job to try and polish the turd.

More silence, more it seems they're all busy behind the scenes and something nobody expects happens.

Philadelphia, Columbus, Utah, Boston etc outta nowhere make a big deal.

They will hopefully be selling assets like Boeser, Demko, Lankinen, Suter so might need to wait for the deadline. This season is a write off. No reason making moves to improve the team this year. Tank hard and hope to get into the top 3.
