Post-Game Talk: Miserable Matinee

First time since January that the team got a 3 game streak with north of 900 goaltending (VAN, BUF, DET)

First time since 2024 that they've gotten over 900 goaltending in 4 straight games. (December: STL, TB, MIN, VGS)
... And that has only happened one other time this season (also in December: NYR, UTA, COL, VGS).


It's not like the team in front of him is carrying him either. Pickard isn't giving them much of a choice for game 83.

But Pickard is not a solution, let's move on from him. That 1 million dollar cap hit is killing us. lol. You seem a little defensive.;):laugh:

My posting tone hasn't changed, so clearly it wasn't to hide anything

But nice try. You continue to be disingenuous. Its your thing i guess. Just like this post. You comnent on here as much as anyone on the same subject then try to paint other ppl with a brush. Dude, those high school tactics.

I just love how you were trying to continue an argument we had two months ago.

I'm sorry, I'd engage with your previous post if I wasn't as tired as everyone else is about discussing The Muffin Man, Mr. Bumblebee Man. I'd rather talk about where Ovie ranks all-time or about the next sure-bet Kazakh goalie prospect. Maybe hit me up again when he comes back.

And oh yeah, sorry that us hoping Pickard is the solution and actually showing some positivity about our goaltending offends you guys so much.

Just what it says. Frederic is here for physicality and to possibly notch some goals while getting toi. That said he's a shadow of say a guy like Raffi Torres that we had here for several seasons and that most of the fanbase here despised.

I'll like Frederic, I like physicality in hockey and he prevents me from ever having to see Max Jones again.

What Raffi Torres did back in the day would likely have him suspended for whole seasons today. I enjoyed him as well, but it was short-lived. I'm not sure I'm ready to pronounce Frederic a shadow of Torres.
Max Jones is what he is as well. An AHL/NHL tweener with limited skill and inconsistent play and physicality.

The respective careers say Frederic isn't close to Torres. In goal scoring particularly, its not close.

Actually today is where Chatfield can bodyslam somebody in the process of a WWE takedown and get away with it. Theres actually no longterm suspensions today. If anything isn't the NHL being more lax today? Or selective?

Jones isn't an NHL Player period.

Look, I'll dumb it down for you.

We both think Skinner is a problem. My solution for the upgrade is to replace him with a competent goalie. But that will also likely increase your payroll (cap) by about 2-3 million. You have to pay for what you get (Campbell excluded).
We already have a competent backup who is NOT the problem and comes at the tidy cap hit of 1 million. Salary aside, he's been one of the better backups this year. If you remove him, as you suggested, for a Skinner upgrade/competition, and keep Skinner, now you're adding 4-5 million to a team that's already pressed up against the cap. Pickard may not be the ultimate "solution", as you've consistently said, but removing cheap pieces that are playing well, is akin to getting rid of a cheap but top performing penalty killing 3rd liner because the first line winger is not doing his job.

At the end of the day, I believe Pickard is a backup, albeit a good one and not a guy that can or should be counted on to lead us to the promised land. We'll need to hope that Skinner can show enough flashes, and the team can outscore his deficiencies to get us over the hump this year. And there will be no "told you so" if everything works out. At the end of the day, we're all fans and want the team to win.

And by the way, "todaso" is not a word.;)

There isn't one point in which I didn't think this org was just going to revert back to Skinner just because.
