EDM was 21st in hits this season with 1060. They were 24th the year before with 1632.

That's 2692 in 2 years, or 20.7 hits per game. Smid and Petry average 9.6 hits per game together.

So roughly 50% of EDM's physicality comes from Smid and Petry.

I find our depth is incredible for the coming season. Goaltending is our biggest question mark though. Center depth out the ass. Lots of two-way players. It's gonna be ****ing fun.

I really don't get that trade for EDM. They have plenty of skill in their top 6, they need some grit. I guess Hemsky is on the move unless they see Perron as a 3rd liner. Or maybe they're moving one of Yakupov, Hemsky, or Perron to center to take Gagner's place? I still don't get it...

EDIT: Oilers fans don't get the trade either...

In 2000 I sure wouldn't believe that in 13 years the two highest paid goalies in the league (and likely whole world, I don't know the KHL figures) would be two Finns

Who was in the league back then, Jussi Markkanen?

Their goalies may be Finland's only hope in the Oly's (sorry Fins). Rinne, Rask, Niemi/Backstrom? Pretty filthy trio. The US may have the only better group.

I don't know why people would doubt the flyers making the post season this year. With the flyers success rate, and bounce back years the facts are pretty evident. It could happen if Emery and Mason ***** the bed, but with how this season went down, and the changes that were made I expect them to be a playoff team.

If we stay healthy...

Hartnell (25-25-50) - Giroux (25-60-85) - Voracek (25-45-70)
Schenn (20-25-45) - Lecavalier (20-35-55) - Simmonds (30-25-55)
Laughton (10-15-25) - Couturier (15-25-40) - Read (25-20-45)
Rinaldo (3-7-10) - Hall (2-5-7) - Talbot (8-7-15)

Timonen (9-36-45) - Schenn (5-10-15)
Streit (8-32-40) - Coburn (3-7-10)
Gustafsson (5-15-20) - Grossmann (1-4-5)

So 239 goals...

In 2007-08 that puts us 10th in offense. (We were 6th with 248 goals.)
In 2008-09 that puts us 16th in offense. (We were 5th with 264 goals.)
In 2009-10 that puts us 8th in offense. (We were 10th with 236 goals.)
In 2010-11 that puts us 11th in offense. (We were 3rd with 259 goals.)
In 2011-12 that puts us 8th in offense. (We were 3rd with 264 goals.)
In 2012-13 that puts us 8th in offense. (We were 10th pacing for 227 goals.)

Maybe my projections are a bit pedestrian. I could see us being top 5 in the NHL in scoring with that offense.

It's simple. They turn their #3 LW into their #2 LW.

Not every trade needs to have anything to do with getting bigger or tougher.

I don't really like it for Edmonton with Perron's concussion history. I would have rather rolled the dice on MPS turning it around. They also got smaller with this move in a division with LA, Vancouver, Anaheim, Phoenix, & SJ.

I'm going to be moving to Cape Coral Florida in a few weeks.

How much will GameCenterLive be when it goes on sale for 2013-2014, because right now it's not available.

They seem pretty fair and likely... I would make some amendments though. (just off what I think, assuming PPG over 82 equates, so effectively assuming everyone plays 82.)

I'd give Vinny an extra 5 goals, extra 5 assists (just off the consistency of his last 5 years... each one has been within an 8% range to the one previous (in points), points: 71, 70, 68, 63 and 67 points per 82.)

I'd knock Schenn up to 20 points, by adding 5 assists (last 4 years averaged 18-24 points, even first year averaged 16. Also averaged over 13 assists every year.)

I'd give Coburn an extra 10 points, making him have 20, I think that is most likely from 09-12 stats (assuming last year a blip)

Id knock Grossmann up to 10 points overall. (Just off past production.)

An extra 30 points for players, so about an extra 12 goals... 5 more from Vinny, 2 more for Coburn, 1 more for Grossmann and the other 4 to other players!

That would give us 251, top 5 most years... those extra 12 really make a difference! I do think my prediction is a little optimistic, maybe by 5-10 goals or so.

Looks good! I actually think Vinny will get at least 5 more goals than that, and B. Schenn will get at least 5-10 more points than that. That's a large 2nd line for opposing teams to handle.

I know it's sliding into a slight off-topic, I just want to say: I think so as well. It's kind of ironic because I believe goaltending was one of the few things that held them back in the late 90s/early 2000s. In only 10 years it's completely vice versa.
