Burnt Orange. What can I say, I'm a Longhorn.

Turgeon belongs but not ahead of Mogilny.

Barrasso i'm unsure of, but he does have 2 Cups, 1 Calder, 1 Vezina, 4 other top 3 Vezina finishes, and 4 more top 9 Vezina finishes. That being said, his stats indicate he was in the same tier as a guy like Kelly Hrudey, rather than a HHoFer. Seems like he is getting in based on the Hardware and the Penguins bump.

Not just the on ice credentials but you’d think being the first Russian defector paving the way for future Russian HoF players would be a noteworthy off the ice accolade.
I'd think the league would like to down play that given the current situation with Russia.
Don't poke the Bear.

The thing is with a lot of the Soviet defectors, it was ultimately a political gambit. At least almost all went back, maybe all, I don’t know. A lot are cozy with Putin. Some of them work *in the government.*

Mogilny is someone who was shot at I believe as he defected (his agent too I think). You wouldn’t think he’d be eager to return and become president of a KHL team, but that’s exactly what happened.

Barrasso, Turgeon, and Vernon?

Come on. I really hate how Halls of Fame have become so watered down.

And I have no idea who Caroline Ouellette is.

I approve of Lundqvist. And Hitchcock as a builder.

There are at least 7 Goalies still out you shouldn’t have to think about before getting to Vernon. And one of them was a Flame.

Ok, I had to go through this because it’s so baffling. I wouldn’t put in Barrasso, but I get it. Undeniably before I get to Vernon, I would induct:

Jiri Holecek
Curtis Joseph
Mike Luit
Miikka Kiprusoff
Mike Richter
John Vanbiesbrouck
Roman Cechmanek
Tim Thomas

That’s 8 clearly better with 5 minutes of thought.

*Edit* I forgot Giguere. That’s 9.

Just saw a picture of Peter Laviolette at his NYR introductory press conference.

He appears to be following the Sheldon Keefe / DJ Smith diet, who appear to be following the Ken Hitchcock diet.

It is wild they separated the men from the women in voting by giving the women their own ballot with the possibility of two women each year but seemingly never use that second spot.

Not gonna sit here & act like I know shit about women’s hockey but on the men’s side you piss away spots on undeserving candidates who are essentially friends with the voters. So why not extend it to the women too if that’s your reasoning.
