Imagine being a GM in one of the biggest sellers markets ever, including having several players involved in potential trade offers, and you do nothing. They will do nothing and say they love the team as is and proceed to be in the bottom 5 of scoring wondering what went wrong.

Regarding Mactavish, there’s no need to get into a crazy bidding war for his contract. Go with Dvorak/Zegras/Cates/Barkey/Couturier for another season until Bergland or someone else is available. If MacTavish is available at a reasonable price, it’s a different situation.
