Miscellaneous NHL Discussion CXI: The Last One Went So Long Because I Didn't Know What The Next Number Was

They don’t really have stars, that’s their problem. Should have kept Rantanen and gone for it.
He didn’t want to play there. What do you do when a star wants out? The best thing for Carolina was not to have traded for him to begin with. Then again, all that they gave up was Necas who wanted out of Carolina himself. It sure looks like the Carolina is not a destination spot for good players.

Edmonton gets away with a delay of game penalty and scores right afterwards.

And scores 30 seconds later.

Ouch. Two goals during what should have been a Dallas powerplay.

Stankoven is outproducing every Dallas forward not named Hintz and Rantanen. He’s still on his ELC. And they added two 1sts+. I’d say they did fine trading for and trading Rantanen.

There’s no larger statement to make from Guentzel and Rantanen. Guentzel actually wanted to re-sign with Carolina, but they had contract negotiating issues. Right there, that halves things.

It’s hard to take the argument seriously that Carolina doesn’t have “stars.” Like they’re the Stepan era Rangers. Forgetting their D group, Aho is one of the best centers in the league, and if Jarvis isn’t a star, I have news about Konecny. And what happened to the “cap space talks” arguments?

You know what doesn’t happen in Carolina either? Their homegrown players don’t want to leave.

A repeat of last year's final would be boring. But looks like that's what we're heading towards.

If EDM offered Bouchard for Risto wed turn it down bc "Bouchard is soft, Risto is the kinda player you win with in the playoffs"

Daily reminder that running a franchise based on player stereotypes is f***ing stupid.

I know that he didn’t want to play there but he’d be playing for his UFA contract so I would have just rode him out if I was Tulsky.

Skinner still sucks, and so does everybody on this team not named McDavid. Someone, anyone, rescue this guy. He can sign with the penguins and I'll root for him, idgaf

They're better in this postseason than last year.

That was a backbreaker for Dallas after a great period.

Rantanen chose a high danger option instead of staying between McDavid and the net with 20 seconds left. The little things that kill you.
