The first game wasn't surprising. The Caps are a strange team that shouldn't be able to hang with the Canes 5-on-5.

Every time you shoot it's an opportunity for the other team to get possession and Carolina just said "nah" and played keepaway

CAR-WSH, meh. Yes, CAR outshot WSH wildly + there was always ''time in offensive zone'' shown next to the scoreboard, but this game just showed why CAR is analytics darlings, but not always results show for it; all that zone time and amount of shots, of course, was overwhelming from a numerical point of view, but… Well… Simple shootaround; yes, understandable, that in play-offs you will not always have cute goals and there are moments when you have to shoot at the goal hoping for deflection/traffic etc, but it felt like CAR attacked only like that, hoping for some bounces and that the opponent will get tired or sh-t; it didn't feel like when, say, EDM or TOR push into the zone; when there is such an oh sh-t, oh f-ck feeling. WSH takes it on the counter-attack, simply shoots and scores. It’s basically “pick one of these four stripe templates and then we’ll insert your team colors”.

There’s zero creativity or innovation, which I guess fits the sport as a whole. I didn’t realize how much I hated so many parts of hockey (not the actual sport, obviously, but the people/leagues around it) before I focused all my attention on a different sport.
