So Vatrano signed 18 mil deal for three years with cap hit of 4.5 due to that deferred $$ because current value is half of that. Now if you sign Tippett to 8 year deal that 6.2 mil in 2032 sure has lower current value as well however it isnt calculated into the deal itself.

Also as a side note I read somewhere that the likes of Zuckerberg have all of their properties mortgaged due to the fact that if they cash out on their stocks they have to pay taxes so its much more beneficial to get a mortgage at super low rate due to his wealth.

Now Tulsky in Carolina was the first GM to sign players to deferred salary contracts in Jarvis and Slavin to lower their cap hits. From my understanding they get one time salary bonus July 1st after their contracts expire so technically its 9th year and counts as deferred salary.

Let's imagine theoretical scenario where a team like Rangers signs top free agent like Panarin or perhaps McDavid to insanely structured deferred salary contract kinda like Kovy's deal back in a day just using a different way to circumvent the cap. Now they pair him with some wall street :eek::eek::eek: to borrow against future earnings at low rate and invest that money at the same time so he gets to make a bank right away not even needing to wait those 10-15 years and still have the option to move into low income state to have that deferred money paid at his later days.

At the same time they'll simply justify it to him that lowering his cap hit gives them wiggle room to surround him with better talent. Matter of fact first team I'd looking at is Vegas since Hill is pending UFA.

Well Hill is already in a no tax state. It doesn't really benefit most players to defer this kind of money. GMs might be able to sucker a few who don't realize how much inflation is going to eat away at the income they're delaying for a decade, but I doubt it's going to be popular.
