It flooded from a league-wide perspective, but the NHL is not a nationalized sport. It was made for that on the first few, maybe with the exception of when they played at Notre Dame, but it is still their best tool in local markets. They have to and still are striking and they have still been big hits within the markets. They took a good product and flooded the market with their own lesser quality “knockoffs”
One outdoor game and another on new years to me seemed like a perfect balance. The New Year’s Day game, on normal tv, was a great move. Multiple stadium series given to poor quality teams was not.
Love to see it, or not see it
You don't think they'd ask for Michkov?
They would have to burn all their capital for this year’s draft.
Sucks they couldn’t offer up Gauthier now.
That too, but who is that type of player we would be willing to give up? As I keep saying, Briere has yet to move a player that he hasn’t felt forced into moving. They would...but itd be a quick no. Idk if any team would give up a Mich level piece, as good as EP is.
Would they? Id think Van would want a player as close to EPs production as possible since theyre not rebuilding. The Tkachuk trade wold be the best blue print.
TK could be that player and his NTC hasmt kicked in yet.
Nor should he. Patience is a virtue when you're rebuilding. And an asset. That too, but who is that type of player we would be willing to give up? As I keep saying, Briere has yet to move a player that he hasn’t felt forced into moving.
Accumulating assets by not moving anyone who would allow them to accumulate assets.Nor should he. Patience is a virtue when you're rebuilding. And an asset.
Briere can take 2026 and 2027 picks in trades b/c he's in the asset accumulation phase, whether he uses those picks, trades them or trades the players obtained with them - it's all about building up the "war chest."
And he should be in no rush to move Laughton or Risto at the TDL, Laughton with 1x3 and Risto with 2x5 will be just as, or more attractive, in June before the draft. For a team like Winnipeg, where it's hard to sign FAs, two years left on a contract is a positive, short enough to reduce risk, long enough to provide value. So stick to his "reservation price", and don't get pressured into accepting a low ball.
Maybe we should wait and see what happens?Accumulating assets by not moving anyone who would allow them to accumulate assets.
I’ve been seeing it for almost 2 years.Maybe we should wait and see what happens?
Any trade is unlikely until after 4 Nations, most of the deals up to now have been pretty minor.
Things will heat up come March 1. Then about a week before the draft.

You literally say this EVERY year and then pivot when it doesn’t happen.Maybe we should wait and see what happens?

I see Konecny as being counterproductive.Totally agree. Its the one thing im waiting for Briere to do. He hasnt made that tough trade yet. Getting a player like petterson would require giving up a player hes attached to for the benefit of the team. Like I said, id imagine TK would be a piece Van would like that few other teams could match.
Would you give up TK in a package for Petterson or is TK too valuable to the team?
Unless the Flyers can sucker Vancouver into taking Tippett, TK would have to be the lynchpin of a trade like this. His scoring potential would help Vancouver recover the loss of Petersson's. The Flyers would have to add beyond TK though, Frost and Ristolainen plus a DC or two. Vancouver does need defensemen and a center to fill the hole in the middle that losing Peterson creates.Totally agree. Its the one thing im waiting for Briere to do. What would worry me with Petersson is the timeline.
He's not good enough to end the rebuild, but he'll be a FA at 30, do you then give him big money until 37 years old.
His current contract is reasonable through 2027-28, but that's going to be a stretch where the Flyers won't be that competitive (since the trade will strip a lot of depth off the roster).
Is Connor Bedard good enough for the rebuild? Is it too early in the rebuild for Connor Bedard?
you think Petterson wants to come here ?I'm all-in on Pettersson.
I would not consider Michkov available in negotiations, but Luchanko sure is fine being talked about in a trade package.
Throw the f***ing house at Vancouver.
