Dubas' overpayments are killing this team...the flat cap definitely doesn't help...Matthews $1 to $1.5 million overpaid...Marner $1 to $2 million overpaid, Nylander $500K overpaid...even Muzzin is several hundred thousand overpaid...that's $2 million of cap space right there...just keep squeezing guys out like Kapanen, Johnsson (though I think Dubas held onto him too long and should have traded him when his value was high), and now Hyman...is Rielly the next to be squeezed out?

none of the late 20s long term contracts have worked out well. He has 2 knee injuries.

We all complain about the “core” but he hasn’t won here either.

Other players will be available for less.

I mean it’s fine to say he isn’t worth his next contract, but that really doesn’t address another big hole left as he departs. You’re not easily replacing a Hyman for his current contract, so it’s a net negative.

The aftermath of this season, thinking it through, leaves me sick to my stomach. Lord Stanley is moving off the horizon.

What are you reading where people are posting that they wanted Hyman resigned? It seems that everyone is accepting that he will be gone.

Will Matthews retrieve the puck, hit, forecheck, and kill penalties? Likely not.

I sure hope Dubas has a plan to replace Hyman.

Did Renberg, Thomas, or Roberts have any offspring? Any of them good enough to play for TOR?

And there wasn’t anyone around the team that was clamouring for another center, that was literally the least of our needs at the time.

I don't have an issue with Tavares as a UFA signing...him and Matthews make a solid one-two punch down the middle as they are centres...but overpaying RFAs and RFA wingers for that kind of money is ridiculous.

It’s the leaving for nothing angle that hurts our prospects. I agree we can’t afford him, but walking for no return, that’s not a recipe for future success.

Not a good look. The only true hustler on this team who gives it all every shift. But its apart of the business so i'll sleep fine at night

He's a good player and a great person.

But it's a lot easier to stomach his flaws at 2.25M than 5-6M. He's been irrelevant in multiple playoff series, injury-prone, and is going to exit his prime soon due to his playstyle.
