If this guy sticks this is a huge addition.
Agreed, I said at the beginning of the season that there needs to be a surprise or two with our young players. I haven't seen a thing of how Minten is playing with the Marlies, other than a few posts in the 'Prospects' thread, but if he can leverage his maturity and intelligence - which are his calling cards - enough to buy himself time to gain some experience, boy would that be a boost to the team.
Steeves was on a line with Lorentz and Dewar, Minten with Holmberg and Robertson at practice.
An interesting line with Minten, Holmberg and Robertson. It could be Robertson's last go round as he'll have played with a number of centers without much success this year. Here too, should there be a bit of 'something' here, it would be another case of youth providing some needed spark for the team.

A lot will depend on Minten not getting caved on the dot.

Tavares, Domi, Dewar, Lorentz, Holmberg and Steeves can all play C.

Steeves has not played center since entering the organization. Lorentz is playing his first game at center as a leaf tomorrow. Dewar can. Domi is not great at center and Holmberg is not great at center.

Thanks, didn’t see that. I guess you don’t want to throw two rookies (Minten and Steeves) together in the NHL on the same line.

Excited to see what Minten can do on the third line. Hopefully he can take this opportunity and run with it.

Last year I get why he didn’t stick, but also true, he wasn’t embarrassing himself and looked capable enough. Should see a better version this year too.

Great opportunity for the kid to solidify a spot in the lineup given all the injuries and absentees.
It's probably worth managing your expectations here though - at best, he's a middle 6 center.
The NHL pace looked a little too much for him earlier. Let's see what he's got.

Kampf went on LTIR, which means Minten might be around for more than just a week. Assuming he doesn't struggle and what not.

I believe - barring serious injury - Fraser will continue to pleasantly surprise.

I would like to see ,after a period of sheltering, that he be put on a line with either of Nylander or Masthews. Yes, it sounds ridiculous for such a young player, but I believe it would leverage player use. Think of Janney, or more so Oates, when paired with Hull. That is what TOR potentially has in Fraser.

Crazy talk, right? Well, in a couple seasons you can say you saw it here first. Or call me crazy all over again. It's a no lose situation.

I would like to see him stay at C, because that is what he is and it is what we need, so I don't see him playing with Matthews.

I would very much like to see this lineup for five or ten games once we get most guys back from injury.

Knies Matthews Domi
Pacioretty* Tavares Nylander
McMann Minten Nylander
Lorentz Dewar Steeves

*With Pacioretty likely out longer we can give Robertson a bit more rope. Holmberg and Alex Nylander too.

Grebenkin probably gets sent down for now. Reaves may finally get waived. Jarnkrok is on LTIR. Time to move Kampf?
