Let's be real... it's SKA, they built him up the first month to break him down. Let him look good, let MTL fans hype rise up even more, to bench him and get a higher value $$$ to break his contract and bring him over now 🫢

Obviously.... but before the season started both sides had a long talk about Demidov's usage and according to both sides it was very positive theres no way this is what MTL management was expecting
We need to look at this more like a hostage negotiation. We either pay the ransom, or they keep him and only let him look at the ice from the bench. Every now and then they'll let him take a 15 second skate but thats it.

very possible Demidov had a good start wins rookie of the month and then he starts playing 4min a game it makes zero sense other then them trying to cash in before he leaves at the end of the season for free

When we ask for proof that the hostage is still alive he gets a shift lol

Yeah they talked and it was positive, I don't think he promised that he'd play a minimum amount of minutes per game.

How many times do Russian prospects come over to North America and languish in the minor league's or play limited minutes in the NHL?

It's not ideal but how he runs his bench is his prerogative and if the team is trying to use a pressure point to get him to sign, that's also their prerogative.

We need to stop creating these doomsday scenarios where because he's not playing 15 mins a game, his development is going to be ruined. It's a temporary situation (hopefully), he'll be in Montreal in the spring, we just have to bide our time until then.

a positive talk isnt playing him 5 min a game 4 games in a row its pretty clear what SKA is doing

a positive talk isn't a promise of playing time either.

He can coach his team as he pleases, whether or not it pleases us as Habs fans.

and yes, I agree it's pretty clear what SKA is doing...they're playing their leverage.

Oh well.

It's really not that dramatic.

Pretty soon, we'll be asking if Lane tilts the ice more than Markov or Subban did.

He'll be tremendous once he'll really settle in and have learned other player's habits. One might say that opposing players will learn Lane's habits too. Yet, he's so unpredictable and reads the ice so well, that he'll always be a step ahead of most players.

He got clocked in last night. Twice, iirc. IMO, this will happen less over time once he learns the league.

I thought Demidov was a super alpha male in the interviews.
Next shift he's on, he literally needs to never go back to the bench.
At least he might play a half period.
You know what, don't even go in the room at the intermission.
F'ckin stay on the ice and stare everyone the f'ck down until play resumes.

There is only one super alpha male in Russia…. Vladimir Putin.

The kid has lots of pressure on him to sign a long contract. I hope his mental is indeed alpha male and he will resist despite the treatment he is receiving.
