So they demote Foligno from the 2nd line to play with Rossi and Trenin? I thought the whole idea was that guys playing well should be promoted? I guess that only applies to Rossi and screw everyone else.
Hartman was promoted when Rossi was playing like shit. That’s why he went up the lineup. If Rossi hadn’t played like shit for the last 2 months of the regular season and the first 2 games of the playoffs, then it is unlikely he would have been removed from the top 6.

I wrote a long reply but it really is a dead horse we are beating over and over by now. It is „whatever“ at this point. Let’s move on.
As I said a ton of young players start out at wing before moving back. Why not ease him into the NHL? And no one is jerking him around his position. Let him get used to the NHL and then move him to center. Let him get used to the players he is playing with.
Also this is what he said in an interview last year.
Do you want to play center in the NHL? I do not care where to play. If the coach says that I am needed at center, I will play there

Detroit did that with Kasper this year and it really unlocked his game. Was put back at center at the end of the season but he kept producing and never looked back.
Name one player the Wild drafted, started at wing, and then moved them to center.
Here’s the question and answer:
Granlund started out center failed moved to wing and is now back at center.
They also haven't had a ton of quality centers to work with. Look at how long it took to unlock Ek.
He never said he doesn't like getting jerked around either.

disagree...Rossi is not the center that needs to get used to the NHL. Yurov should play the wing.
The Wild didn't put him back at center after moving him to wing.
So your solution to developing a center is to not play them at center? Seems legit.
Rossi's inability to play wing is why he will be traded.

That's just your assumption and not a fact. There is zero data on him playing wing. So nobody really knows and I somehow doubt the Wild really tried or even considered it. With as little practice time as there is during the season and the injuries and lack of quality centers this was probably not even talked about at all.
And look at that, it seems like a foregone conclusion that Rossi will be traded.

I don't think they're even considering him as a winger, I think he's just gone, regardless.
Personally I still don't understand why we can't keep him around and see if he keeps improving at center. We're writing him off completely for his current shortcomings without seeing if he can overcome them.
They’re trying to win now and having four sub 50% centers won’t work. I think they’re trying to add multiple centers+Yurov, and then slide Hartman, Gaudreau, and (hopefully) Rossi out to the wing:
Kaprizov-C1-Rossi
Ohgren-Eriksson Ek-Boldy
Zucc-Yurov-Hartman
Foligno-C4-Gaudreau

Better slide Yurov and Ek out too because Ek has been around for like 8 years and and still hasn't hit 50, and Yurov is mid 40s in the KHL.
I don’t see any reason Yurov can’t start out at wing. He’s not Celebrini or some can’t miss prospect. He’s promising, but let’s see how FA & Rossigate play out before we pigeonhole him as the 2C or 3C.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Rossi at W. I wouldn’t mind if we trade him for Lekkerimaki or Hayton or as part of a package for Konecny. I don’t see him as a foundational player, and am tired of having a small and slow core.
With or without him, we enter next year with the best roster in franchise history with a half dozen really good prospects poised to add some life to the lineup.

I would have expected to see more outrage about giving him that contract tbh, if we're tired of being small and slow, that is.

Honestly it also goes back to the idea that like, people suddenly wanna move him for being small and slow, but no one wanted to move him for being small and slow for the first five months of the season, and even with being small and slow, he's still a more effective player than all but 3 forwards.
I don't know. Small and slow, maybe. But with Johansson's size and speed he's still a worse player. With Foligno/Trenin size they're still worse players.
I guess for me personally, I'm not so much tired of being a small and/or slow team, I just wanna be a good team, so I want to keep good players.
