So they demote Foligno from the 2nd line to play with Rossi and Trenin? I thought the whole idea was that guys playing well should be promoted? I guess that only applies to Rossi and screw everyone else.WE spoke about this several times during the playoffs. I don't get why you play ignorant now. Playing Rossi with Trenin and Foligno and giving them decent minutes IS a promotion -> that was talked about. Giving them normal shifts 14-16 minutes a night is a promotion. Not sure what you are trying to accomplish here. Coaching staff did everything right? How many games did Hartman have to string together to get pushed up the lineup?
EDIT: But seriously this discussion is so silly. It is yesterday's news. Everything has been said ten times over
I wrote a long reply but it really is a dead horse we are beating over and over by now. It is „whatever“ at this point. Let’s move on.So they demote Foligno from the 2nd line to play with Rossi and Trenin? I thought the whole idea was that guys playing well should be promoted? Hartman was promoted when Rossi was playing like shit. That’s why he went up the lineup. If Rossi hadn’t played like shit for the last 2 months of the regular season and the first 2 games of the playoffs, then it is unlikely he would have been removed from the top 6.
As I said a ton of young players start out at wing before moving back. Why not ease him into the NHL? And no one is jerking him around his position. Let him get used to the NHL and then move him to center. Let him get used to the players he is playing with. They're not going to play Yurov at winger and then move him to center. He's said he is more comfortable at playing center and doesn't like to be jerked around with his position (like the KHL did). If anything, they will play him at center and then move him to wing if he can't handle the role.
Name one player the Wild drafted, started at wing, and then moved them to center. As I said a ton of young players start out at wing before moving back. Why not ease him into the NHL? Also this is what he said in an interview last year.
Do you want to play center in the NHL? I do not care where to play. If the coach says that I am needed at center, I will play there
The Wild need to put Rossi on the wing.Detroit did that with Kasper this year and it really unlocked his game. Was put back at center at the end of the season but he kept producing and never looked back.
Granlund started out center failed moved to wing and is now back at center.Name one player the Wild drafted, started at wing, and then moved them to center.
Here’s the question and answer:

disagree...Rossi is not the center that needs to get used to the NHL. Yurov should play the wing. The Wild need to put Rossi on the wing.
The Wild didn't put him back at center after moving him to wing.Granlund started out center failed moved to wing and is now back at center.
They also haven't had a ton of quality centers to work with. Look at how long it took to unlock Ek.
He never said he doesn't like getting jerked around either.
Rossi's inability to play wing is why he will be traded.disagree...Rossi is not the center that needs to get used to the NHL. Yurov should play the wing.
That's just your assumption and not a fact. There is zero data on him playing wing. So nobody really knows and I somehow doubt the Wild really tried or even considered it. With as little practice time as there is during the season and the injuries and lack of quality centers this was probably not even talked about at all.Rossi's inability to play wing is why he will be traded.
And look at that, it seems like a foregone conclusion that Rossi will be traded. That's just your assumption and not a fact. There is zero data on him playing wing. My thoughts are if the Wild can add a center, then Rossi can be the “scoring winger” they add.Remember like a week ago when you matter of factly claimed that Rossi wouldn't be traded lol

But if he can’t play winger, he’s gone.
They’re trying to win now and having four sub 50% centers won’t work. I think they’re trying to add multiple centers+Yurov, and then slide Hartman, Gaudreau, and (hopefully) Rossi out to the wing:I don't think they're even considering him as a winger, I think he's just gone, regardless.
Personally I still don't understand why we can't keep him around and see if he keeps improving at center. We're writing him off completely for his current shortcomings without seeing if he can overcome them.

Kaprizov-C1-Rossi
Ohgren-Eriksson Ek-Boldy
Zucc-Yurov-Hartman
Foligno-C4-Gaudreau
Trenin
I don’t see any reason Yurov can’t start out at wing. He’s not Celebrini or some can’t miss prospect. He’s promising, but let’s see how FA & Rossigate play out before we pigeonhole him as the 2C or 3C.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Rossi at W. I wouldn’t mind if we trade him for Lekkerimaki or Hayton or as part of a package for Konecny. I don’t see him as a foundational player, and am tired of having a small and slow core.
With or without him, we enter next year with the best roster in franchise history with a half dozen really good prospects poised to add some life to the lineup.
NMC. Is what it is.Zuccarello 5'7 and not fast, no calls to trade him this summer
NMC. Is what it is.
Those two can stay because they’ve got the skating and defensive game required of a center.Better slide Yurov and Ek out too because Ek has been around for like 8 years and and still hasn't hit 50, and Yurov is mid 40s in the KHL.
Winger.I would have expected to see more outrage about giving him that contract tbh, if we're tired of being small and slow, that is.
