Minnesota Wild General Discussion 2024-25

He’s got a higher ES P/60 than Rossi or Boldy in the last 10 games.
False. Even strength per 60 over the last 10 games:

Rossi 1.99
Boldy 1.75
Khusnutdinov 1.64

You probably meant to say 5v5, where your statement is played out.

BUT, I would like to point out that Trenin leads the team in both ES and 5v5 per 60 over the last 10 team games. So maybe Trenin should be moved up the lineup?

I think that Guerin wants Marat and Ohgren to develop their offense down in Iowa. Both have the potential to be decent middle six players, but right now it's not happening for them. They need a wake up call.

I have liked Marat's play better than Ohgren's. I like the way he plays, and think he is already a decent NHL 4th liner. Ohgren isn't bad, just ineffective, like Jost.. They are both young, so not time to panic.

It bothers me to see these guys targeted while players like Marjo and Hartman get a pass, but that's more about their contract status than their play.

Honestly, yes. He’s got more juice than Foligno and a Top 6 with Boldy, Rossi, Zucc, Mojo, Hinostroza might be the softest, easiest-to-play-against group in modern NHL history.

He wouldn't even sniff the top line on most teams. He's damn lucky to be where he is alongside Rossi and Boldy.

It's funny how Rossi is doing fine without Kap, but Zucc is lost.
Zucc is lost?
A player doesn't have to be bad just because he plays 8 games in a row without picking up a point.

The impact stats from the Avs game shows why Zucc is a leader. And who said Johansson should be out? Obviously not. Khusnutdinov on the bottom, sending him down is fine, they won't miss much. I think Brodin played hurt.

Lot of doom and gloom here for a team with a young core that was near the top of the standings before a vicious series of injuries hit. We also have some cap space opening up and a top prospect pool. I still think we are in a good spot 🤷‍♂️

Perhaps I’m missing something and should focus on trading Kevin Fiala 3 seasons ago, or Foligno being signed one year too long, or Trenin being paid $1M too much.

I'm still predicting the Wild to win a round or four if they have a healthy Kaprizov, JEE, Faber, and Rossi, with a Bus or a blooming Flower in the back.

And who is to blame for that?

I thought I was fairly knowledgeable about the NHL salary cap, but I still don’t know how we got enough space to bring in Nyquist. This team was going to have <$1M space by the TDL and with players on LTIR, we shouldn’t have been accumulating cap daily.

We appear to be headed towards squeezing into the playoffs without any momentum and fully banged up. Of course that’s how it’s going to be. Regardless Kap and Ek need to get back asap and try to get healthy and up to game speed. I’m afraid this team is just absolute 100% first round fodder again. It sucks and this state is used to it.

I'm impressed that the Wild are still in the playoff picture with all them injured Players they've had and that dead cap situation.

The future (2026/2027) could shine bright if Guerin doesn't f*** it up which I fully expect him to do.

They racked up a huge buffer early. They only need .500 hickey to make it.

Secretly hoping we drop to WC1 and end up in the Pacific bracket. Just please not another first round against Dallas, we match up terribly vs them, everyone else I feel like there is at least a reasonable chance in this luck based sport.

Some minor updates....

As of Thursday, Kaprizov still hasn’t started skating, and it sounds like he’s not going to until the final week of March when the Wild have 10 to 12 games left.
Eriksson Ek is also dealing with a broken bone in his leg. The Wild aren’t sure when it occurred, with coach John Hynes saying there was no “incident” and it may be a “usage injury.”

“He came back from the 4 Nations, he was fine, he practiced, he played (against Detroit),” Hynes said.

Eriksson Ek then practiced after playing the Red Wings, came off the ice and could barely walk.
