This part of the Athletic article was particularly worrying. Has it really been that many injuries for Ek?

Ek and kap are just syncing up their health so they come back super strong by the end of the year. It's a secret euro thing.

Probably not, but hopefully they'll be back by the time the 1st round rolls along. I imagine Guerin is going to need answers on their timelines within the week so he can start setting up for what he'll do 10 days from now.

They probably need 96 points to make the playoffs. That means they need 12 wins in their remaining 25 games. That's slightly below .500, and they've been playing slightly above .500 without Kaprizov.

The Flames (their only real threat) needs 34 points to get there, which means 17 wins in their remaining 26 games. That's 17-9 vs. the Wild's 12-13. (or some variation of loser points that helps get them there)

Yeah, I think it could get down to the wire, but I'd still put my money on the Wild in that race.

No JEE, no Kap- no good. It's great that our D is healthy, but if the goalie isn't stopping pucks, we need to outscore opponents, and that ain't happening with this forward lineup.

I think maybe you keep Zucc and Boldy together with Freddy or Marat at C and let Rossi play with Foligno & Ohgren or something.

F groups are going to suck no matter how you draw them up

Let's take a look at those three who got an extension last year, all with a 4M a yr contract.

Zuccarello: 12 goals and 24 assists, 36 points in 45 games. PPG 0.80
Foligno: 11 goals and 11 assists, 22 points in 58 games. PPG 0.38
Hartman: 7 goals and 10 assists, 17 points in 48 games. PPG 0.35

Looks to me like Zuccarello has done more than enough this season already, compared to others with the same salary. But this is not the way he's thinking, he's a leader and the most experienced player on the team except Fleury. That being said, I don't think playing for a while without scoring bothers him much at this point in his career.

Zuccarello still often plays more than 20 minutes a game, that's a lot for a guy his age, and maybe not so smart. But I understand why they want him up there, at least as long as his two linemates are producing. And I think they want him there too.
