Tanev is a really good D, but is it really the guy we needed? Scoring was the issue in the past couple of playoffs. I guess they are just hoping the big guns figure it out.
I remember reading something about how the team wanted to take care of the D and goalie situation first and then go from there. Another great off season for Tre will be key.

Also the leafs look like a more much attractive team to play for with their success so far this year. That may help attract more options

I wouldn't say I'm down on the team but I'm definitely getting more frustrated with this group than I have in a long while.

I think it's a matter of the bottom teams finally getting better but also the Leafs not taking advantage of the division that they could of been running away with by now.

This team needs to score some f***ing goals.

The early season Defence hasn't been near as good lately either. They're too streaky lately both ways.

They need to get back to 3 wins and 1 loss type of hockey. Easier said then done but they aren't way ahead here. They need to get their asses going.

And please injury bug... f*** all the way off.

Thank you. I feel the exact same.

Feels like that early season defence was really propped up by Stolarz. Though I am not sure what the advanced stats say.

I have come to the realization that our game plan is the Berube "Bunker". Maybe I should have seen it coming. Your goaltending has to be exceptional, and you need at least be mid pack on both specials, preferably much higher. Hope your best players make some plays which we have seen does not happen for extended periods in the playoffs. So, while I think we can slog our way to a divisional title, which is not nothing, I am less excited about our chances of winning anything.

It is a bit like watching the Jays with no offense.. it's painful. Once every 7-10 days we have a good offensive day.

I could see an ugly OT win in this one. That's usually how the Leafs break their "losing streaks" (all two games of it). The home/road schedule split will be absurd after this one: 30 home games, 21 road games. It's a good thing the Leafs have the second easiest match-ups the rest of the season.

I could see it being a closely played unwatchable mess (again).

Looking ahead, we will only have 31 games left in the season after Wednesday. 11 home games and 20 road games.

Two home stands left (more than 1 game in a row, but one of them is just a 2-gamer). The rest are all singles.

Two 4-game road trips (one west coast). Two 3-game road trips (both west coasters) and the rest are all 2-gamers.

12 games remaining outside the eastern time zone. BUT, we finish with 8 all in the eastern time zone.

6 back-to-backs left, all with travel though one of those b2b is in LA.

That does not sound like an easy rest of the season to me, regardless of what the stats say.

While it’s a fair call out, what we are seeing is a bit of an indictment of the quality of our depth we have to weather injuries. I think as a contender it’d be reasonable to expect to have better fill in options.
And we would have if it wasn’t for Dubas and Shanahan trading away all those draft picks for rentals who never helped us get past the 1st round, and then were basically let go after the playoffs were finished.

This is why a 7-6 or, even better, 8-5 January was critical. With more games on the road than at the morgue they'll be OK and should win at minimum 15 /16 more games beginning Feb 1.

Sounds like Quillan is injured from the knee on knee collision, so good chance Greb gets in regardless.

Knies and JT are also still out from the sound of things.
Think I read that Tavares is going to start practicing this week which is good news.

Friendly reminder, we are still 1st in the division

Another friendly reminder, even if we lose we are still 1st in the division

It's alright, slumps happen we'll be ok. Judge them by the season overall, not the last 4-5 games alone.
They are 5-5 in the last 10. They can’t afford to lose many more right now if they want to hold onto first.
I’m expecting a big effort and a win tomorrow night
