Proposal: Minnesota - Chicago Offseason Blockbuster

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

If Minnesota loses faith that they will be able to re-sign Kaprizov. There were rumblings coming out last summer of Kaprizov not wanting to sign an extension but admittedly that was before the cap increase was announced. So hey why not?

To Chicago:
Kirill Kaprizov

To Minnesota:
Frank Nazar
Roman Kantserov
Arvid Soderblom's rights
Florida's 26 1st

If Minnesota loses faith that they will be able to re-sign Kaprizov, then Vancouver and Montreal both will make you an offer you can’t refuse!

He is unlikely to want to sign in Canada where he would lose 40% of his salary to taxes and play for teams that aren’t any closer to contender status than MN.

Probable but that also could be the furthest thing from the truth.

So I truthfully do not know which one of us is being silly. Maybe none of us? I think none of us but I’m open minded

So Nazar, a late 1st, and some scraps for Kaprizov? Not enough value for Minny, especially trading him in division.

What do they need to add to get Minny to listen
Well, under tough circumstances, the Canes traded Rantanen for Stankoven, two 1sts, and two 3rds. And they traded him to a western conference team, not to a division rival.

So Hawks would have to start with Nazar, Toronto's 1st this year, Florida's 1st next year, and probably add another solid piece or two.

I’d probably listen if we could get Vlasic plus two of Rinzel/Nazar/Kantserov. But that’s only if we know Kap isn’t resigning

Buium, Faber, Jiricek, Vlasic, Rinzel is a hell of a blueline group to build around.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if Rinzel ends up better than Levshunov.

Chicago can pound sand with a crap offer like that.

What is Minnesota suppose to do with a 2026 1st rounder that will be in the NHL in 2030? And they already have Gustavsson and Wallstedt in net.

If Chicago ever loses faith that they can sign Bedard into his UFA years, hit me up, I got some loose change, a paper clip, and some lint in my pocket I can send your way.

You do realize that in some cities in Canada, he'd pay less than in MN.

Start with Rinzel + and Chi 27 1st (top 5 protected). Go from there.

Why wouldn't it be the 2026 Chicago 1st?
For the sake of discussion and if Kaprizov is truly on the trade block, the 2026 CHI pick is going to be a non-starter. They are still going to be a horrible team, unless we make it a top-10-15 protected pick. But 2027 creates a bit of ambiguity where CHI make take the gamble they'll be more competitive by then, and we might take the gamble they'll still suck by then, and open up the protection to only be top 5 protected.

Rather trade him to Jets for 1 year vs. Chicago for the next 9.
The whole premise of the thread is flawed. If Kaprizov doesn't want to sign with Minnesota it will be because Minnesota isn't a winner. There is no chance he would prefer Chicago over Minnesota at this time...
