Proposal: MIN-MTL

Feel like it will just mostly be a lot of Montreal posters saying the don't want to add another small player and Minny fans saying they don't want to trade Rossi but if they do it won't just be for futures
Both are fair takes, tbh, and I think the value in the OP is fair in a vacuum, even if neither fanbase want to do it.

I agree although the chances of the Habs pick being that high in 26 is unlikely teams just don't do this just in case.
Yeah because the Habs are one major injury away from a top 3 pick. No way they’d give up next year’s 1st for a guy like Rossi. There’s a scenario where that pick ends up being McKenna, even if it’s unlikely.

It's not Just a fanbase thing. Wild turned down two 1st round picks for Rossi because they specifically are looking for a win now player for him

Great, and the Habs have expressed zero interest in Rossi, as per sources.

Habs don’t want him anyway, and neither do the fans.

And what did your post serve? We all saw that a guy predictting Habs fans would say he will be too short. And we gladly did anyway.
I was just giving credit to the guy for accurately predicting how the thread would go. I am sorry that upset you so much.

Ok, then. We'll take that useless 5'8" forward, Cole Caufield off your hands, then?

Are you having a hard time following?

The reason that Montreal doesn't want a 5'9 top six forward is because they already have Caufield in their top six and they already have Caufield and Lane Hutson on the first wave of their power play

Would a Caufield-Rossi-Zuccarello line be the smallest line in the history of the NHL?
Those who know you know that you would beside yourself with joy if we somehow got Caufield. I have to admit that he is proving me, and much of the NHL, wrong. He has been able to bring his game to the NHL, despite his lack of size and speed, though he is quick. Great pick for MTL.

I grew watching two great little men, Yvan Cournoyer and the Pocket Rocket. Small guys, but great players.

In any event, it looks like Rossi isn't going to be traded. Most of what they have been offered is futures, which doesn't interest Guerin.

They have a lot more chance to be a playoff team next year than a bottom 10 team, unless they have a disastrous summer.

What if Suzuki goes down at the start of the season? That'll be all she wrote for the Habs' 25/26 season.

It's not Just a fanbase thing. Wild turned down two 1st round picks for Rossi...

Probably the Flyers' offer of the 22nd and 31st.

Now do this with every team in the league.

It's an useless point, especially since Suzuki hasn't missed an hockey game in years.

And McDavid could trip over a curb hitting his head causing a career ending concussion. Your point?

All a team has to do is sign Rossi to an OS over 7.02M x5. If it's a team that is reasonably good, you are talking about a 2026 mid/late 1st, 2nd, 3rd for a 23yo 60 pt 2C on your team in the fall.

Minny reportedly doesn't want futures and Montreal reportedly doesn't want Rossi. And and outside observer would see that Minny wouldn't want futures and Montreal wouldn't want Rossi.

Suzuki has the 3rd longest active iron man streak. Considering how much injury problems Montreal has had early in its rebuild, you could have picked literally anyone else as a hypothetical injury.

Rossi To MTL
for
16th overall (2025)
MTL 1st r. (2026)
MTL 3rd r. (2025)

Fair Value?
Value wise I think it's fair but Guerin doesn't seem to want that type of trade, tho maybe that changes if he's unable to aquire an established centre.
That being said, Vancouver would be all over a deal that allows them to keep their top prospects, along with other teams no doubt.
