With max retention he has a 3M cap hit. If Quick is out long term (i.e until Jan/Feb) would the Kings be interested in Miller as this is the last year of his deal? The price would be reasonable but not excessive even with retention.

Just asking because TSN 1040 were speculating about this as a possibility.

1) Vancouver's GM clearly has been making moves like they are going for it this year so I doubt Miller is available
2) LA is better off waiting for Condon to go back on waivers or just going with what they got. LA should not give up assets for temporary goaltending help

With Quick maybe out long term you guys will need a 50% retained Lehtonen or Niemi

Going for what exactly? Vancouver is going to be in the running for the top overall pick. IF LA wants Miller, if you are the GM, you ship him off for an asset. Vancouver is building, not a good team.

Zatkoff will hold the fort until Quick is back. The injury will hurt the Kings, no question about it, but there is no point in taking on more cap hit for a veteran goalie in a trade. The Kings, overall, play a good defensive game. They just need to tighten things up more until Quick comes back.

I think most fans agree Vancouver should be selling assets for prospects and picks, however my point was they have been doing the opposite. It seems that they are going for it, it being a playoff spot.

Canucks aren't competing anyway...if they can rid themselves of Miller...im sure they would look at it.

What does this mean "not competing"?

Did anyone tell that to the players?

People, there are exactly zero NHL teams whose pre season plan was to "not compete."

This fanboy nonsense can stop anytime.

Problem with this theory is it doesn't take the Canucks' massive organizational incompetence into account. Jim Benning and Trevor Linden think they have a playoff team, or close to a playoff team, so trading their starting goaltender - even if he's not the best goalie on the team - isn't going to happen.

I'd be happy if LA took Miller for minimal return. But that's just me. I've never liked him as a goalie or teammate (my perceptions of course).
