Mikkola Hit on Girgensons. Given 5 mins and game misconduct (fined $5000)

Stinks of Colin Campbell putting his thumb on the scale

Hagel hit him in the head, jumped, and the puck wasn’t there. Hagel got it so easy but he’s a weak little guy. Oh well. Soft league
LMAO

That was shoulder to chest

God I can't wait until Gregory Campbell is out of your organization and you guys are actually held accountable

Dirtiest POS organization in the league by far ainec

So the league feels that because it happened at the beginning of the third period instead of the end (like the Kucherov one did last year) that means it's not worthy of a suspension despite it being from behind instead of from the from.

This league deserves absolutely everything bad that happens to it with its complete disregard for actual player safety.

Anyone surprised by this isn't paying attention to how they dole out punishment. They act based on the result and not the action.

Mikkola hit Girgensons, gets 5 and a game. Girgensons remains in the game. Mikkola gets a fine.

Ekblad hits Hagel no penalty called, Hagel leaves the game and does not return. Ekblad will get suspended

Not saying this is right, but it's how they have been doing things in the playoffs for a while.

The league also wouldn't want to suspend two players from the same team for the same game because that wouldn't be "fair" to them.

How many games did Kadri get for doing this hit to a Bruin again?

Edit: 3 games for Kadri on this hit. Not exactly a 1 to 1 comparison but certainly had a player in the same vulnerable position and a guy choosing to bury him.

Ah yes, that $5,000 fine surely will prevent the same thing from happening tomorrow night.

I'm not even going to blame refereeing for the TB loss last game, but come on. Hagel's hit on Barkov was far more of a hockey play than that was, and he got suspended a game. The fact that there was ZERO penalty on Ekblad's forearm shiver is a joke. League needs to do better.

LOL what a joke, could've broke the guys neck. 5K, I wonder what the league will do when someone eventually dishes out the same hit back to a Panther.

As if we needed any more evidence than the Panthers get babied by the league.
Lmao.

Are people really in shock that we retaliated?

It’s like a criminal breaking into Rambo’s house complaining that he got shot.

Yep. League cares more about optics than actual player safety.

f*** it, players should just go full soccer / NBA and lie on the ice writhing around for 10 minutes any time there's contact. Maybe then the league would actually do something. Oh, wait, some hockey players aren't full on vaginas, and have a little more dignity than others.

This shit is on the league. What a joke. How are you going to argue that Hagel's hit deserved harsher punishment than this one?

Maliciously getting after the head of an opponent in a vulnerable position like this should automatically be the maximum possible suspension, no place for this kind of s*** in the game

I've never considered Mikkola as a dirty player. Of course, all NHL players are doing things that are a little beyond the pale, but he's not the type of guy who normally does things like this. While I think he fully deserved the major and game misconduct he got for this, it's weird that it was him of all people to do it. I think he should get a game for it, but only one, since he's not someone who regularly does this kind of stuff.

Jason Spezza, a silky skilled superstar, played 1000 games and had like 1000 points.
One night against Winnipeg, he kneed/thighed Neal Pionk who had fallen onto the ice, in the head.
This was a response to a hit by Pionk where he had taken out a Leaf defender with a knee on knee hit. He received a 2 game suspension for his efforts after not being penalized in game.

Spezza got 6 games from Parros.

It doesn't matter a lack to this NHL "player safety" divisor who the player is or his record.

It only matters what jerseys they wear and how much Parros likes the players involved.
