GDT: Mikko Rongonen

Hall is big time motivated and is really meshing well on that line. Dang serious chemistry right off the hop….hard to see someone as good for as long as Hall has been is underrated, but he might be the steal of the trade if he keeps playing like this… Svech has been all over it as well. If everyone on that line keeps playing this way…….wow….

Really good game and Anderson covered up all the usual snafus where we give up super high danger chances way more often and worse than other teams. Anderson was more than up for it tonight..

Love love love us walking away with a shutout win against the Rangers! Another game for the new guys to get comfortable together and we win as well. No negatives to dwell on…. On to the next one…

Had to gif this real quick. Mikko hanging back to be one of that last guys to leave the ice. It's the little things man. What a time to be alive.

Hall has been a great addition to the team :)

Wasn't but two weeks ago that Hall after a loss said he didn't want to play in Chicago anymore, without actually saying those words. Man had to have felt like a kid on Christmas hearing the trade news.

Some thoughts so far.

KK still looks engaged. Really nice simple stuff from him. Driving to the net like a bull. This kind of heavy game and solid defensive presence will be worth gold in the playoffs.

Rantanen with some nice defensive plays and puck possession. He doesn't look like $13M right now but he does look like a top line player. Beautiful assist. I heard he was a moose but he hangs on to the puck like Jordan Staal, and can score and make beautiful passes. Even if Necas scores more with MacK, I think Rantanen's game could translate better to the playoffs. He's not great defensively, but I think he's better than Necas in that regard.

Jackson Blake actually looks really good. It's super encouraging that we have a post-Dundon draft pick, a 4th rounder even, making the team. He's making some mistakes and trying too much, but he's also learning better defense. I'm at the point now where I will be surprised if he ISN'T a top 6 mainstay within 2 years.

Andersen has been unbelievable tonight. It's like a revenge game against the Rags after last year's playoffs bounce. This should be a 4-2 or 4-3 Canes lead. Even his "easy" saves have been pretty good.

...And part of why he's had to look so good is I'm pretty sure Ghost is getting as much sleep as I was in my first months of being a Dad. If Ghost had a Burns jersey on we would have killed him by now. Maybe that's also being with Stillman as a partner. He's on a road trip, right? So he has to be sleeping, right?

I'm not sure where this Taylor Hall guy has been but damn Jesper Fast is playing the best hockey of his career. He's flying out there.

By facts Rantanen is and has been one of the best playoff players in the league so his style should fit the post season fairly well

He brings that physical heavy element on top of high end scoring.

But he’s probably going to take some time as he played for years and years with Mack and they have great chemistry and his game is all about speed and attack. Where as Aho is a more finesse high IQ player

Still the funniest moment

This was wild. Troch was plausibly out of breath. But it looked like he waited on the ice for a call, as if he was somehow going to get a powerplay out of failing to hit someone.

What's wild is that we were on Hall's no trade list. Kinda crazy that you'd put a top team in the league on your no trade list. Hopefully he comes around and likes it here. His skill and puck pursuit make it look like a sneaky good addition. I'm waiting to see how his defensive game turns out.

PP is still doodoo. Hopefully we get that figured out. Also want Blake off the top line. He's good don't get me wrong, but you can tell he still has some growing to do. Mentally and physically.
agreed on blake. rants on RW and robinson or hall or LW. 2nd line is rob/hall-kk-svech (feel like svech prefers playing offhand) 3rd is marty-jordo and jarvis.

roslovic gets pushed to 4th line C.

Straight from the horse’s mouth, sounds like he’d be just fine sticking around:

Hall is fun. He clearly still has some vision and speed and thus far seems to be a good fit in the system. I'm sure being on a better team helps as well. He has a chance to be a reasonable facsimile of what we lost from Necas in play style or a more natually skilled Teuvo. Not perfect comparisons but something in that same style. Nice that we were able to bring in that element while adding another big time player to cover for the high end production.

It might be he wanted some control over the process and all of his 10 teams were top teams...something like Canes, Dallas, Colorado, Edmonton, Florida, Tampa, Toronto, Jets, Wild, and the Caps. Then he has almost all of the teams that would be interested and he can then pick and choose amongst the contenders when the deadline comes around. It really may have nothing negative to say about any of the teams. Not much chance another team at the bottom is looking to bring him on like the Ducks or the Sharks or Buffalo.

Who knows.

Not that I am complaining but the reversal of fortune for the Rangers is kinda wild to see. Record aside, they looked kinda lifeless except for Trocheck and he made some boo boos.
Actually, the downturn for the last two President's Cup winners is interesting but Boston's is more understandable to me.
Boston was bound to drop off

I still like Vinny even though he's kinda douchy towards the Canes now. I really don't think he was selling a call there, I think it was more of ones of those "well that was f***ing stupid and I know better" kinda moments.

yep, I've done that a few times (soccer not hockey) and stayed down for a second or two longer than necessary thinking "why the f*** did I just try that" internally before getting up.
